Hello, September! 🐾🍂 Cooler days, changing leaves, wagging tails, and a full calendar at Clear Path for Veterans — there’s a lot to look forward to this month!

September brings new opportunities to connect, restore, and grow, from wellness and enrichment programs and community gatherings to outdoor adventures and our Annual Ride for Clear Path Fundraiser! 🏍️🇺🇸

Our service dogs in training are ready for the new season too — and we have a feeling a few extra walks through the falling leaves (and maybe a treat or two!) are in their future. 🐕‍🦺

Whether you’re joining us for a program, visiting campus, supporting an upcoming event, or simply following along with our pups and their training journeys, we’re grateful to have you as part of our mission.

Interested in Woodworking? We want to hear from you! 🪵 Clear Path for Veterans’ Wellness & Enrichment Program is exploring opportunities to expand our woodworking workshops, and we want to hear from our veteran community!

If you are a veteran interested in learning new woodworking skills, getting hands-on experience, or simply connecting with others through the craft, we’d love to add you to our interest list. To express your interest in future woodworking opportunities, please email our Senior Wellness & Enrichment Manager at [email protected].

In the meantime, we encourage those interested in woodworking to check out Ginger Woodworks in Perryville, NY for a tour of the workspace at the upcoming Cazenovia Art Trail on September 26 & 27 from 10 AM–5 PM. This complimentary, self-guided event offers the opportunity to visit local artists and makers in their working environments, learn more about their creative processes, and find inspiration right here in our community.

The countdown is on for the Annual Ride for Clear Path on Sunday, September 27th, and we’re ready to hit the road for an incredible day of motorcycles, camaraderie, and community!

Each year, riders and supporters come together for more than just a scenic ride. Every mile helps support Clear Path for Veterans and our mission to empower veterans, service members, and military families through programs and services offered at no cost to them.

The Veteran Support Services Team recently gathered in the Hudson Valley Region for two days of program planning, strategy, and collaboration.

In partnership with Play for Your Freedom and David Lionheart, the sessions were held at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center to strengthen our programs, build partnerships, and continue our commitment to serving veterans and their families. The team was also honored last night at a Hudson Valley Renegades baseball game as the Heroes of the Game!

A special thank-you to Leprechaun Lines, a local transportation and charter company, for generously sponsoring a Renegades Luxury Suite and helping make the evening a memorable one for the team. We’re grateful for the partnerships, support, and shared commitment to our veterans!

Meet Larry! 🐾 This National Dog Day, we're thrilled to introduce the newest puppy of our Canine Program, Larry!

Larry is named in honor of Larry VanHorn (1955-2024), a proud Army veteran, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and beloved member of the Oswego community.

Larry served in the United States Army and Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4) before his honorable discharge in 1983. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 35 years to SUNY Oswego and over 20 years to the Hall Newman Center, where he became known for his kindness, commitment to others, and service to his community.

As his journey begins toward becoming a future service dog, we are honored to carry Larry's name forward. Just as his namesake spent a lifetime serving others, we know this young pup will one day make a meaningful difference in the life of a veteran.

Our annual Ride for Clear Path is coming up on Sunday, September 27th, and we’re getting ready to hit the road in support of veterans, service members, and their families!

This year’s ride is especially meaningful as we celebrate 15 years of service at Clear Path for Veterans. For 15 years, our community has helped us grow our mission and create opportunities for those who have served to find connection and support.

The Ride for Clear Path is more than a motorcycle ride, it’s a community coming together to support the military community. Every rider, passenger, sponsor, and supporter helps us continue providing programs and services that empower veterans and their families to connect, restore, and grow.
