First Wisconsin chapter, Muskies inc.

First Wisconsin Chapter 6 of Muskies inc is here to support our area Fisheries, Research, and Youth.

The First WI Chapter is one of over 40 chapters in the United States. Our chapter members are primarily from the Chippewa Valley but we have members from as far away as Texas. We are not limited to "dyed in the wool" muskie fisherman, everyone is welcome!

***Wisconsin Musky Season, Split-Opener Restoration***
Today Monday , April 13th 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. are the WI Spring Hearings. For those who want to give their input on returning the Musky Season Opener to its former split opener status, you must SHOW UP IN PERSON to vote.

There will be a proposal presented at all of the NORTHERN ZONE counties at each meeting location to restore the historic split opener status. That means it will NOT be available for online voting. You must attend in person to vote. Also, be sure to check out the rest of the questionnaire, some important questions on there.

Reduced stocking for the past decade, even worse outlook on stocking this year and the foreseeable future, more efficient anglers then ever, loss of spawning habitat, more and larger propped boats stirring up spawning areas every year, we are stacking the odds against these fish too much already. We need the northern zone to have as much spawning success as possible. Give them the time they need.

Steve produces Steve Heiting’s Musky Tips on YouTube and social media. He is also host of Steve Heiting’s Northwoods Musky Report, a weekly radio segment broadcast throughout Wisconsin’s northwoods during the summer on WJJQ Radio, and archived on all podcast platforms.
Steve partners with Vexus boats, Mercury outboards, St. Croix rods, Seviin reels, Mepps lures, Stealth tackle, Suick Lures and M-W Marine to promote the sport of fishing.
