First Wisconsin Chapter 6 of Muskies inc is here to support our area Fisheries, Research, and Youth.

The First WI Chapter is one of over 40 chapters in the United States. Our chapter members are primarily from the Chippewa Valley but we have members from as far away as Texas. We are not limited to "dyed in the wool" muskie fisherman, everyone is welcome!

"HEAVY HITTERS" from the WI DNR Musky Management Team- Guest speakers are Colin Dassow, Zach Lawson and our local biologist, Joseph Gerbyshak. As always, there will be a lure raffle to kick off the event.

Please come out and soak in some amazing information on how our chapter's PIT Tagging program has led to increased stocking priority, more fish being stocked in our local waters and how future efforts can continue that trend.

49th Annual First WI Chapter Muskies Inc Tournament —

The 49th Annual First WI Chapter Muskies Inc Muskie Tournament brought together 194 anglers (including 24 youth anglers) for three days of fishing September 18–20, 2026. Despite an overcast, wet tournament weekend, the weather certainly didn't keep the muskies—or some very big ones—from biting.

Tournament anglers combined to catch 82 muskies, making for an impressive weekend on the water.

Allen Melville captured 1st Place with a tremendous tournament, accumulating 83.75 points. His scoring fish measured 45.75", 42.75", 40", 40", 36.25", and 35"—six muskies in all.

Rick Hall finished 2nd with 67.50 points, putting five muskies on the board measuring 47", 44", 37.5", 35", and 34". Shane McLaughlin took 3rd with 57.75 points, powered by an outstanding trio of 46.25", 45", and 44.5" muskies.

Rounding out the top six were Rich Vetterkind in 4th with 56.75 points, Landon Marcinek in 5th with 54.75, and Brad Schultz in 6th with 53.00.

But Schultz landed the fish everyone was chasing.

Big Fish and LAX Reproductions Replica Prize— Brad Schultz, 49.75"

Brad Schultz claimed the 2026 Big Fish Award with a massive 49.75-inch muskie, the largest muskies of this year's tournament. He backed that fish up with muskies of 42.75" and 38.5", giving him three scoring fish and 53 points for the tournament.

There were plenty of other giants in the mix. John Frank caught a 48.25", while Caden Kolinski and Todd Kostrzak each registered 47.5" fish. Rick Hall and Rowan Zwiefelhofer each caught 47-inchers, and Rich Vetterkind and Max Super each put 46.5-inch fish on the board.

Looking across the scoring sheet, 41 of the 80 listed scoring muskies were 40 inches or larger, including 17 fish of at least 45 inches. The listed scoring fish averaged approximately 40.46 inches, with a median of exactly 40 inches. That's a pretty remarkable size distribution for a tournament field.

We have finally reached tournament week. We wanted to reach out and remind everyone of a few things in lieu of a formal tournament rules meeting.

First of all, Don't forget to download the FishDonkey App,
Click Fish in a Tournament,
Search for: 1st Wi
Select 1st Wi Chapter Muskies Inc 2026
complete registration from there.

By doing so you will be entered to WIN a Musky Rod/Reel Combo drawn from all FishDonkey Entries- winner drawn on Sunday. We would also recommend using the Practice feature of FishDonkey to get familiar with it's operation before you have a fish in the net.

Additionally if you have not registered for the actual tournament yet, be sure to register online or in person- in person registration is on Thursday night at Mouldys Archery 4:30-6pm and Big Minnow in Holcombe 5-9pm.

Tournament cards will need to be picked up at in person registration locations if you do not have one yet and elect NOT to utilize FishDonkey for fish registration. Text in fish registration requires the tournament card in both photos.

PAY ATTENTION to timelines for fish registration each night and for RELEASE FORMS being turned in Sunday at East Bay! ALL FISH (Fish Donkey and Text In) REQUIRE A PAPER RELEASE FORM SUNDAY at East Bay.

We are now less than 1 month away from our 49th annual fall tournament!

We have less than 2 weeks left of Early Bird discount for tournament entry fees!

Tournament cards needed for text fish registration will not be mailed out for registrations coming in after Sept 1st/Early Bird- meaning you will either need to come and pick one up at in person registration stations Thursday night before the tournament or Utilize FishDonkey to register your fish.
