Who We Are
Scouting is the largest and one of the oldest organizations around the world, having just celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2010. Troop 202 and its leaders strongly believe in the character building that comes from following the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. We also strongly
believe in parent participation in all Scouting activities. The youth who get the most out of Scouting are thos
e whose parents are visible and active. Parents play a key role in the success of Scouting, you help motivate your son, provide moral support, and help as you can with Troop activities. It is
because of this that we hold a monthly parent meeting, and expect 12 Troop service hours per year from the parents of each Scout. Boy Scouts is designed to be a boy-run program. The Scouts will get out of Troop 202 what they put into it. Leaders try to keep the "outing" in
Scouting by offering plenty of activities of all kinds. That includes work, planning and preparation for camp-outs, weekly meetings, and Eagle Scout
projects. As you learn and grow with us, your Scout's responsibilities will increase. Developing self-confidence, self-reliance and leadership skills are
key goals of the Scouting program.
