What a weekend at our IE NAVHDA Training Clinic!

From the basics of steadiness and force fetch all the way to the finessing details that finish a world-class bird dog, handlers walked away with a ton of knowledge to take back to the field.

There were breakthroughs, plenty of laughs, and a lot of lightbulb moments for handlers and dogs alike!

Huge thank you to William Bastian for sharing his expertise and to all of the volunteers who made this weekend possible. Our chapter couldn’t do events like this without you.

Already looking forward to the next one. 🐾 What was your favorite part of the clinic? And what clinics would you like to see next?

California is home to 7 species of rattlesnakes — and whether you’re hunting, hiking, camping, or spending time outdoors with your dog, encounters are possible.

Rattlesnake avoidance training teaches dogs to recognize the sight, scent, and sound of a rattler and choose avoidance over curiosity — helping prevent a serious emergency.

A rattlesnake bite can cost $2,000–$5,000+ in emergency veterinary care, depending on severity and antivenom needed. Prevention is safer (and significantly less expensive) than treatment.

Snakes play an important role in balanced ecosystems, and balanced habitats mean healthy game bird stock. Protecting our dogs and respecting wildlife go hand in hand.

IE NAVHDA is hosting a Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic — open to the public and all breeds welcome.

Register here https://www.inlandempirenavhda.org/product-page/rattlesnake-avoidance-training-april-18th-2026— and send this to your hiking buddies, camping crew, and dog friends.
