📈 New ICE data reveals alarming details about Trump's cruel mass deportation campaign.

As ICE arrests reached record highs this summer, the data exposes how the Trump regime is targeting a much broader group of people than they once claimed. This includes vulnerable people fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries, parents and spouses of U.S. citizens, and people with no criminal history whatsoever.

Stop AAPI Hate's own research has revealed that when ICE arrests go up, immigrants and U.S. citizens alike are negatively impacted. Half of AAPI people — regardless of citizenship status — said they felt less secure, withdrew from public life, and experienced other harms because of Trump's anti-immigrant agenda last year. This year, a Republican-controlled Congress pledged $70 billion more in taxpayer funding for ICE and DHS on top of the additional $170 billion Congress gave them last year.

Instead of funding terror, violence, and xenophobia, imagine if that money was used to ensure families had healthcare, food, and a roof over their heads.

AAPI voters have made it clear that affordability is a major concern heading into midterms. This November, we have the chance to elect representatives who will commit to spending our tax dollars on things that make our lives easier – not on inhumane mass detentions and deportations. Trump’s racist visa freeze may be coming to an end.

In January, the Trump regime put an indefinite pause on visa processing for 75 countries, including Pakistan, Thailand, and 12 other Asian and Pacific Islander nations.

For seven months, immigrants approved for lawful immigration to the U.S. were blocked from receiving their visas. This cruel policy separated families, prevented approved workers from arriving, and worsened already severe visa backlogs.

This ruling is a step in the right direction, but the fight continues to restore full visa access for our communities. Trump’s travel ban on 39 countries — including Laos, Afghanistan, and several other Asian nations — remains in place, as his administration works to find cruel new ways to keep people of color from living and working in America.

Just a few weeks ago, a judge ruled that Venkata Vasamsetty is a lawful green card holder and that DHS had no evidence that she "abanonded" her green card during a 2022 trip to India. But that didn't stop ICE from kidnapping Vasamsetty from a recent check-in appointment with no warning — separating her from her U.S. citizen children and grandchildren, and her work as a special needs public school teacher.

Under Trump, ICE is bending the law to harass, arrest, and deport as many immigrants as possible. Without meaningful oversight, lawful green card holders like Vasamsetty will continue to suffer the unjust consequences of Trump's cruel agenda.

Trump's mass deportation operation is spiraling into a human rights crisis for Asian communities.

The U.S. promised safety to Southeast Asian refugees, but now Trump is sending them back to the very places from which they fled or to countries they have no ties to. This is one reason why ICE arrests and detentions of Asian people have increased six times and deportations of Asian people increased nine times under Trump, compared to the previous administration.

But we can't let the Trump regime scare us into silence. We have to keep speaking out against the inhumane attacks on our immigrant neighbors.
