๐ŸŒŠ What will China Lake look like 10 years from now? 20 years from now?

Will future generations still experience clean water, peaceful mornings, thriving wildlife, and a community that truly cares?

That answer depends on us โ€” right now.

The China Lake Association is looking for future Board Members from all generations, backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels. Whether youโ€™re a lifelong resident, a new neighbor, retired, working full-time, young, or somewhere in between โ€” your voice matters.

You do not need to be an expert to make a difference. We need people who care about protecting the lake, strengthening the community, and helping preserve this special place for future generations.

โœ… Help protect water quality
โœ… Preserve the lake for future generations
โœ… Support community events and programs
โœ… Bring new ideas and energy to the table
โœ… Build connections with neighbors who care deeply about this place

If youโ€™ve ever thought about getting involved, this is your sign!

Trees are instrumental in defending against erosion... and as we all know, erosion is a leading cobtributor of phosphorus runoff, which can lead to algae blooms...

Ergo: save trees, save lake! ๐ŸŒณ ๐ŸŒณ ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿ’ฆ

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestryโ€™s Maine Forest Service is asking residents, landowners, and municipalities to help slow the spread of the invasive emerald ash borer (EAB), a destructive insect responsible for killing millions of ash trees across North America.

As the EAB continues to threaten Maineโ€™s forests and communities, the Maine Forest Service encourages the public to learn how to identify ash trees and signs of infestation, participate in monitoring efforts, and help prevent the spread of invasive pests.

Here are five ways to help slow EAB:
1) Learn how to identify ash trees
2) Learn how to identify signs of EAB
3) Learn how to identify the EAB
4) Create a girdled ash tree to monitor for EAB
5) Leave your firewood at home and prevent the spread of invasive pests

These five steps, along with many other helpful resources, are accessible at https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/forest_health/invasive_threats/eab/EABsigns.shtml.

Beginning May 22, Courtesy Boat Inspectors will be stationed at China Lake, Webber Pond, Threemile Pond, and Togus Pond every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Sept. 7. Theyโ€™ll assist boaters in identifying and removing any invasive aquatic species from their boats before entering the monitored waterbodies.

We appreciate your support of their efforts, as well as your continued, independent vigilance on other days and at other waterbodies.
