What level are you at right now? 👀

🌿 Low-pressure
🥾 Ready for a little more
⛺ Feeling adventurous

One of the biggest things I’m learning is that doing things alone doesn’t have to start with some huge adventure. Sometimes you build confidence one little outing at a time.

I shared 10 beginner-friendly solo outdoor ideas over on YouTube for anyone who wants to start but is still a little nervous.

You may be starting a new chapter, a new career, a new relationship, or rebuilding after something didn't work out, but you're not starting from scratch.

You're starting with experience.

You know more. You've learned lessons. You've built resilience. You've survived things that once felt impossible.

That's not starting over.

That's starting again with wisdom, perspective, and proof that you can handle hard things.

Save this post so you can come back to it when you need it most. ❤️

The funny thing about spending time outside is that you rarely come back the same.

Maybe nothing around you changes.

But somehow… you do.

That’s why I keep showing up.

Not to escape my life.
To reconnect with it. 🤎

The more time I spend in nature…the more I find myself.

Every walk reminds me that peace was never missing.

It was just buried beneath notifications, deadlines, responsibilities, and worry.

The trees don’t ask me to be productive.
The river doesn’t ask me to perform.
Nature simply lets me exist.

And lately… that’s exactly what I’ve needed. 🤎

🌿 You don’t have to be fearless to start. You just have to be willing to take the first step. Every trail begins with one. 💚

Myth: “Rain is in the forecast, so our vacation is ruined.”

Reality: Around here, a little rain is just part of the adventure.

The Southern Smokies are part of a temperate rainforest, with some areas receiving 60–80 inches of rain each year. (Western Regional Climate Center) That lush scenery, rushing rivers, misty mountain views, and vibrant forests? We have the rain to thank for it.

Mountain weather is wonderfully unpredictable (and the Weather app often gets it wrong.) A forecast for rain often means just a quick afternoon shower, a passing mountain mist, or rain in one valley while the next is dry. It rarely means your entire day is washed out.

So don’t cancel those plans just yet. Keep your tickets to Unto These Hills, your whitewater rafting adventure, or your zipline reservation. Our outfitters, guides, and hosts know these mountains better than anyone and will let you know if conditions truly call for a rain check.

And if you’ve ever rafted the Nantahala after a fresh rain, you know there’s something magical about it. The river is alive, the mountains glow, and every bend feels like an adventure waiting to happen.

So here’s your sign: don’t let a few raindrops on the forecast keep you away. Pack a light rain jacket, embrace the mist, and come experience the magic of the Southern Smokies—rain and all. 🌿💦o

Permission granted. Try the thing. Keep going. ✨

What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t think you’re “ready” yet?

My first car-camping trip took a lot of researching, planning, and worrying before I finally decided to go.

I was nervous, but I learned that confidence does not always come before the adventure. Sometimes it comes because you chose to try.

Start with one night at a campground or state park close to home. Pack the essentials, choose a place where you feel safe, and give yourself permission to leave if it does not feel right.

Have you ever tried car camping?
