Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing (MVICW) is a strong writing community, where writers can develop their craft alongside other established authors. Our offerings include the MVICW Summer Writers' Conference--a comprehensive, week-long focus on writing, where writers at any stage of their career are afforded the time necessary to devote to their work, in the idyllic setting of the Vin

We also invite award-winning authors, literary journal editors, and university faculty from around the country to lead writing workshops, work one-on-one with individuals on their manuscripts, and provide tips and tools for editing and publishing. We know that one of the most difficult hurdles writers face is often just finding the time and space to write. Our goal is to make this program a personal one, where those needs for time and space can be met, and your writing practice honored within the community, even as you establish friendships and make contacts in the industry. Participants include individuals of varying ages and writing abilities, from published writers to skilled beginners, and all are encouraged to engage and connect with our visiting authors in a variety of ways. Outside of classes and workshops, the visiting authors are available during evening readings and receptions, panel discussions on craft, and in one-on-one manuscript editing sessions. Each of these events and offerings are designed to provide a participants with a more intimate and nurturing environment for their writing.
