CHILLICOTHE BOAT CLUB
RULES & REGULATIONS
***THE CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENTS.***
GENERAL:
There are two privileges available to Club Members. One is for the use of the grounds for the purposes of FISHING, SWIMMlNG, & PICNICKING. The other privilege is the use of the lake for BOATING PURPOSES. Every Member is responsible for maintaining the Club grounds & picking up their own trash before departure. (Anyone found not in compliance with this will be subject to having their membership suspended)
The annual dues for your membership of The Chillicothe Boat Club are for yourself and spouse and children under the age of 18. Anyone 18 or older MUST buy a separate membership. You are privileged to bring guests with you as long as you remain with them and are responsible for their entertainment and conduct while on Club property. A responsible adult must always accompany any guest or family member under the age of 16. Guests who are taken to the Club are limited to 2 visits per lifetime with a Club member present. Previous year members are NOT ALLOWED 2 visits before application for membership. This rule will be strictly enforced. This privilege considers only the occasional guest in your home or someone whom you might be trying to interest in becoming a member. It does not permit you to extend an invitation to all your acquaintances time after time. This privilege has been abused in the past and the Club hopes this will help clarify the meaning of this privilege in order to keep from completely withdrawing the privilege. The Board of Directors has the right to reject any application for membership. As we are a family-oriented Club, no officer or board member shall sell a membership to a known s*x offender or any other person whose membership may be determined as detrimental to the Clubs overall well-being. Members are responsible for notifying an officer or board member of any changes in addresses and or contact information. The lock to the gate is changed every year on or around April 15th. Water and electricity to the camping area will be shut off from November to April 15th each year. The lake eastside of the boat ramp will be closed for boat traffic from November 1st thru February 28th for duck and goose season.

GROUPS:
Any member wanting to entertain a large group (family reunion, wedding, birthday, friendly get-together etc.) must get approval from The Board prior to the event to avoid possible conflict. It will be the Club Member's responsibility to make sure that all trash is removed after the function. Civic, patriotic, or religious groups may have free use of the club grounds for recreation purposes only when authorized by the Board of Directors. All groups are required to follow ALL CLUB rules while on club property. Due to safety concerns, any person or persons planning to do target practice in the Public Area must first contact a Board Member for prior approval.
PRIVATE BOAT DOCKS:
Docks may be placed anywhere along the banks of the lake as long as the following requirements are met. All docks must be 20 feet apart on each side. A private dock is subject to the private dock fee. All private docks must be marked private and have a gate of some sort over the entrance. It is the dock owner's responsibility to keep the dock maintained. These docks are considered private property and will be treated as such by all other members. Anyone wanting to build a private dock MUST get approval from the Board prior to construction.
CABIN & PROPERTY OWNERS:
All cabin and property owners will see that their lawn is mowed and property kept free of trash and other unsightly debris. Anyone found in violation of this will be notified by letter from the Board. The violator will be given a reasonable amount of time to correct the violation. A fee may be assessed to the property owner if the Club has to hire someone to do the work necessary to correct the violation. Dogs are NOT allowed to roam freely in the cabin area, they are to be restricted to the Cabin or property owner's property.
Camping Lots:
Any lot that is rented on a yearly basis is subject to the same regulations as the cabin and property owners. The renter is responsible for keeping the lot mowed and free of trash and other unsightly debris. The renter will be notified if they are in violation.
Fires:
Campfires are permitted, but not under power lines, shelter houses, or trees.
GATE & KEYS:
THE GATE IS TO REMAIN LOCKED AT ALL TIMES, and ALL members must lock it after entering or departing. It will be your duty to post a member of your family or group at the gate to provide any other entrance or departure. At NO TIME or under ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES are you to loan or give your key to non-members of the Club in your absence. If your keys are pulled for any reason, you will be barred for the remainder of the season. Keys can and will be inspected at any time by any Board Member while you are on Club property. Owners of FRAUDULENT keys will be PROSECUTED. Such illegal practices not only represent a loss of revenue to the Club but are unfair to the members that paid for their memberships. The Club DOES NOT intend to condone this illegal practice. Anyone who has a key to the gate that has not been issued properly to them by the Club will be prosecuted for theft. If the key is found to be an unauthorized duplicate, the owner of the original key will be subject to prosecution and have their Club membership revoked with no monetary compensation from the Club. ALL KEYS are to be registered and supplied by the Club only. If you think an extra key is absolutely necessary, you will have to get approval from the Board and pay any necessary fees. All old keys are to be turned in when you are issued a new key.
ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES:
All ATV's are to be restricted to the gavel roads. No "joyriding' will be allowed in the Cabin Area. You must obey the same rules as the other motor vehicles as far as speed, which is a limit of 15 MPH once you enter that gate.
PETS:
The pet owner is responsible for their pet and any damages or injury caused by the pet. The Club will not condone pets that display violent behavior or have a history of violent behavior or attacks. These regulations will be ENFORCED. The first violation will result in the owner being issued a written warning, the animal will need to be kept on a leash and a fine of $45.00. The second violation will result in the owner receiving another warning and a fine of $90.00. The third time in violation will result in the owner having their membership revoked for the year without monetary compensation by the Club. All fines left unpaid will be assessed to the next year's membership fees.
Throwing rocks, bottles, cans, sticks or any other trash or debris in the lake is strictly prohibited. Parents are asked to guard their children against such practices. Please remember, this is your lake so please try to help keep it clean.
BOATING, SKIING, BOARDNG:
The center of the lake is to be considered in the same manner as the center of the highway with regards to the direction of travel and responsibility for accidents. The same rules and regulations in effect on the highway apply to the Lake as regards to passing, turning, and careless or reckless operation of boating equipment. Local and state law enforcement officers have jurisdiction as well. Continuous offenders will have Club privileges revoked without compensation by the Club. Skiing and knee-boarding are permitted on the following conditions: TWO people are required in all boats pulling ski and knee-boarders- one to manage the boat and the other to manage the tow ropes and to keep an eye on the skier or knee-boarder.
Whenever the tow rope is released by a person skiing or knee-boarding, the boat shall stop until the ropes have been retrieved. Those are the legal requirements that MUST be observed. It shall be the responsibility of all boaters to operate their equipment in such a manner as to avoid accidents. Boat speeds are to be kept to a MINIMUM near DOCKS and SWIMMlNG AREAS. This is to prevent damage to the docks and to protect the swimmers. Boaters are privileged to use any of the facilities for boating owned by the Club, with the understanding that any damage resulting to either the Club property, the user's person or property of others will be the entire responsibility of such owners.
