TOMORROW!! Join the Chillicothe Trans*formers, a vibrant transgender support group for ages 18+ dedicated to fostering a strong community and engaging in meaningful community outreach. Our group is a beacon of hope and solidarity, where every voice is heard and every member is valued.

We convene on the last Friday of each month from 6-8pm, creating a regular space for connection, support, and shared experiences. Whether you're seeking friendship, support, or a chance to give back to the community, Trans*formers is here for you. Let's transform understanding, acceptance, and love together. Be a part of something bigger—be a part of Trans*formers.

Our Friends of Dorothy Book Club, in partnership with the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library, meets on the second Tuesday of each month @ 6pm at the Main Library, 140 S Paint St.

New members are always welcome!

On Tuesday, September 8th, we'll be discussing "Flamboyants: The Q***r Harlem Renaissance I Wish I'd Known" by George M Johnson: "A celebration of writers, performers, and activists from 1920s Black America whose sexualities have been obscured throughout history. Through 14 essays, Johnson reveals how American culture has been shaped by icons who are both Black and Q***r. And whose stories deserve to be celebrated in their entirety."

Last week, Ohio's Bureau of Motor Vehicles quietly stopped accepting the form that transgender residents have used since 2009 to update the gender marker on their driver's licenses and state IDs. No public announcement was made. No transition period was given. Equality Ohio and TransOhio said the BMV now allows gender marker changes only if people can provide an updated birth certificate or passport.

Equality Ohio executive director Dwayne Steward condemned the move, saying: "Changing a policy this consequential overnight, without warning or transparency, is not an accident. It is a deliberate attempt at voter suppression and an intentional decision to make life harder for transgender Ohioans while hoping no one notices until it is too late. We noticed. We are paying attention." So are we. If you or someone you know is affected by this change, reach out to Equality Ohio for guidance. 🏳️‍⚧️
