Today is Juneteenth, and First Capital PRIDE joins the nation in celebrating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans and honoring the long, ongoing struggle for true freedom and equality in this country. The fight for LGBTQ+ rights and the fight for racial justice have always been intertwined. So many of the pioneers of our movement, from Marsha P. Johnson to Bayard Rustin to Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, were Black q***r people who showed up and led even when the world refused to make room for them.

Freedom is not fully real until it belongs to everyone. On Juneteenth, we celebrate how far we've come, we honor the Black LGBTQ+ community, and we recommit to the work of building a world where no one is still waiting for their liberation.

Our Friends of Dorothy Book Club, in partnership with the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library, meets on the second Tuesday of each month @ 6pm at the Main Library, 140 S Paint St.

New members are always welcome!

On Tuesday, July 14th, we'll be discussing "Nicked" by M.T. Anderson: "In 1087, as a plague ravages the Italian city of Bari, a humble monk named Nicephorus believes a vision from Saint Nicholas calls him to aid the sick. Instead, he is drawn into a daring quest with Tyun, a charismatic relic thief, to steal the saint’s bones -- rumored to possess healing powers -- and bring them to Bari. Based on historical events, 'Nicked' is a wildly imaginative, delightfully q***r medieval adventure filled with intrigue, wonder, and unexpected romance."

Presented by The Lantern Collective, the teen youth group of First Capital PRIDE Coalition.

Join us for a night of skating, music, pizza, and PRIDE celebration at Cavalier Skating Rink.

This event is open to LGBTQ+ teens and allies ages 13 to 17, and is designed to give young people a safe, welcoming space to connect, have fun, and celebrate community during PRIDE month.

Admission is free, but space is limited to 20 participants.

You must go to linktr.ee/firstcapitalpride and fill out the registration form to reserve your spot and receive your ticket by mail or delivery. Participants will be notified either way regarding ticket availability.

Join us for a prom-inspired dress party created for folks looking for a fun, welcoming, and affirming place to celebrate community, creativity, and self expression.

Dress in your best prom fit and enjoy an evening of music, dancing, snacks, handcrafted mocktails, and a free prom photo booth to capture the night.
