CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — As part of the Sons of the American Revolution celebration of the semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, of the American Revolution, the Arthur St. Clair Chapter conducted a patriot grave marking ceremony Saturday at Patriots Square in Grandview Cemetery.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Arthur St. Clair Chapter conducted its first Compatriot Grave Marking honoring Robert A. "Bob" Fetters. Bob was an early member of our chapter joining about the time the chapter was organized in 1988. During his time in the SAR, he held several offices including Chapter President and Genealogist and was recognized with several awards and accolades, including the Patriot Medal, the Chapter Meritorious Medal and Distinguished Service Medal. An avid genealogist, he was able to document an incredible 47 Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestors before he died in 2021.

The amazing part about the Compatriot (member) Grave Marking ceremony was his monument that serves as his tombstone. It is a 6 foot high monument in 3 panels that has his seven generation pedigree on it for his family and his wife's family. Check the photos on this post to see the monument.

This was the first Compatriot Grave Marking ceremony conducted by our chapter and, possibly, one of the first in the entire Ohio Society, SAR.

Everyone is invited to the Patriot Grave Marking in Grandview Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio, where we will be honoring five Revolutionary War Patriots. Details are on this flyer. If you are in the area, why not come out at 1pm and attend our Compatriot Grave Marking honoring Robert A. "Bob" Fetters also in Grandview Cemetery. Bob was a Past Chapter President and Genealogist, as well as a Ross County historian and genealogist.
