Our new quint, known as Truck 1. It replaces our 1998 quint, and will be the front line vehicle for all structure fires.

Our 2006 Engine 1 will be renamed to Reacue 1 and will respond to anything rescue related like car accidents, etc. It will still be equipped to fight structure fires also.

We are excited about our new apparatus and look forward to serving the citizens of Chillicothe in the new truck.

I've said it before.

There’s something special about living in a “small” town.

Over my 18 years in healthcare, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some true local heroes—like the ones pictured here—and then running into them later at a local watering hole like “hey, when are you on shift again? We’re bringing lunch.”

Chris and I stopped by CFD Station 1 today with some JJ’s, swapped stories, and caught up with some familiar faces (okay… mostly Chris did the talking).

Truly though—thank you for everything you do for this community. It doesn’t go unnoticed. I know I couldn’t do what you do, and we’re all better off because you can ❤️

The 2026 Fish with a Firefighter event was a resounding success, thanks to the tireless efforts of numerous supporters. Our gratitude goes out to the following:

Union Sportsmen's Alliance for donating fishing poles and tackle.

ODNR for the Step Outside grant

ODNR Fisheries Department for selecting Yoctangee Park for rainbow trout release,

Adam Coates with Herrs for the potato chip donation.

Bills Bait House for the discounted fishing bait.

City of Chillicothe for helping us advertise the event.

CFD Unit 2 firefighters for them coming between calls to asisst.

Finally, the off duty CFD members who took time from their day off to help make the day successful.

We hope to continue this event in the years to come. We have ideas to make it better and smooth for everyone involved.

Thank you again for the continued support of the Chillicothe Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 300.

Following a recent emergency incident in the Bloom Township community, our thoughts and prayers are with the family who are grieving the tragic loss of their loved one.

What began as a routine medical response quickly evolved into a dangerous and rapidly changing incident. Situational awareness and quick action by firefighters on scene identified a contributing hazard that was not initially known prior to arrival. Their rapid thinking and immediate response prevented further loss of life and ensured that additional patients were removed from harm. Though several fire fighters were transported for exposure as a result of these conditions, all were released without requiring further medical treatment.

While some outcomes in emergency incidents are uncontrollable, we remain committed in serving our community. Again, we keep the family effected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers and hope they find comfort in this difficult time

Sincerely,
Zach Petty
