Ross County, we need you.
Right now, there are children in our own community who are walking through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Children who have experienced abuse.
Children who have experienced neglect.
Children who have been removed from everything familiar.
Children sitting in courtrooms, in foster homes, in meetings, and in systems they did not ask to be part of.
And too many of them are doing it without one consistent person standing beside them.
That is where CASA comes in.
A CASA volunteer is a Court Appointed Special Advocate — someone appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interest. But the role is so much more than a title.
It is showing up when a child feels forgotten.
It is listening when a child feels unheard.
It is speaking up when a child’s needs are being missed.
It is making sure the court has the information needed to make decisions that can change the course of that child’s life.
This is not just volunteering.
This is standing in the gap for a child who needs safety.
This is helping bring stability into chaos.
This is being a voice for a child who may not know how to use theirs yet.
This is being part of the reason a child gets services, support, permanency, and hope.
Ross County CASA trains and supports volunteers. You do not have to have a degree. You do not have to be perfect. You do not have to know everything about the court system before you begin.
You just have to care enough to show up.
And let me tell you why this matters:
A child with a CASA volunteer is more likely to have a better educational experience.
More likely to receive the professional services they need.
Less likely to spend unnecessary time in long-term foster care.
Half as likely to re-enter foster care.
And more likely to find the safe, permanent home they deserve.
That is powerful.
Because when a child has someone consistently showing up, asking questions, paying attention, and refusing to let them be overlooked — that child’s story can change.
Some people spend their whole life wondering how they can make a difference.
This is how.
You can be the person a child remembers as the one who cared.
The one who showed up.
The one who saw them.
The one who used their voice when that child needed it most.
Our community is full of people with heart, strength, compassion, and purpose. Now we need people willing to step forward and use that for the children who need it most.
If you have ever felt called to help children…
