Tonight we celebrated our graduating seniors โ€” Ashley, Alexis, Harley, and Kelton โ€” and we could not be more proud of each of them. ๐ŸŽ“โค๏ธ

While not all of them were able to be there in person tonight, we are still celebrating each and every one of them and the incredible accomplishments theyโ€™ve achieved.

These seniors have each left their mark in amazing ways. From being leaders, to making others feel welcomed and included, to showing perseverance through challenges, they have represented the very best of our program and our community. We have watched them grow, overcome obstacles, support others, and continue pushing forward toward their goals.

Their futures are bright, and while we are excited to see where life takes them next, we know they will always be part of the PCMP family.

A special shoutout to their mentors who have faithfully shown up, encouraged, listened, supported, and walked alongside them through every season. Your consistency and care matter more than words can express, and tonight is a celebration of your investment too.

Congratulations, seniors! We are so proud of you and canโ€™t wait to see all the good you will continue to do in this world. ๐Ÿ’™

This past week, our Match Specialist, Laken, had the honor of attending the graduation ceremony at Pickaway-Ross CTC and celebrating some truly incredible teens! ๐ŸŽ“

We were especially proud to cheer on students from both our community-based 1:1 mentoring program and our school-based mentoring program, where Laken provided weekly group mentorship for students who may not otherwise have had access to mentorship opportunities.

We are overwhelmingly proud of each and every graduate. We know their stories. Weโ€™ve watched them show grit, determination, resilience, and strength while overcoming barriers and they still pushed forward and made it to this moment.

Graduation is more than a ceremony; itโ€™s a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and courage. We canโ€™t wait to see where life takes them next. Congratulations, graduates! We are so proud of you! ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ“

A huge THANK YOU to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 108 for their incredible generosity. Not one, but TWO $1,000 donations to support the youth and families we serve through Paper City Mentoring Project! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโค๏ธ

Their support helps strengthen our mentor matches while also providing critical assistance through our Emergency Fund, which helps meet immediate needs such as food assistance, clothing, hygiene items, transportation, and other basic necessities for teens and families facing difficult circumstances.

Because of community partners like VFW Post #108, our teens know they are seen, supported, and valued. Your continued investment in our youth makes a real and lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership and belief in our mission.

Thank you for standing beside us and helping us ensure every teen has the support they need to thrive!

๐Ÿณ Fueling the Future: Teen Cuisine ๐Ÿณ

We are excited to officially announce Fueling the Future: Teen Cuisine โ€” a 10-week hands-on summer cooking series for PCMP teens and mentors!

This fun and interactive program will help teens build confidence in the kitchen while learning practical cooking skills, nutrition basics, meal planning, food safety, and how to create healthy, budget-friendly meals they can make for themselves and their families. From cooking challenges to trying new ingredients and flavors, teens will gain lifelong skills while having fun together.

We are incredibly thankful to have this program led by PCMP mentor alum and current board member Katy! Katy is a privately trained chef with more than 15 years of experience in the culinary industry. Her background ranges from traditional restaurant work to teaching cooking courses for both adults and children. She is passionate about sharing cooking skills that support healthy living, food security, creativity, and confidence both in and out of the kitchen.

We are also excited to welcome several guest chefs and lead educators throughout the summer, including:
โœจ Lisa B. & Ohio State - Ross County Extension
โœจ Madeline from Function Nutrition & Wellness
โœจ Denise from Wild Ones South Central Ohio Chapter

A huge thank you to the Walmart Chillicothe - River Trace Lane Grant, Loweโ€™s of Chillicothe, OH, Printex Printing Company, and the many community members who have already donated and supported this project. Your generosity is helping create meaningful opportunities for our teens this summer!

We are still seeking a few additional donations to help fully fund supplies and experiences for the program. If you would like to support Fueling the Future: Teen Cuisine, consider shopping our Amazon Wishlist (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3JNA00NP98MS2?ref_=wl_share) or reaching out to sponsor part of the program. We are beyond proud of these seniors and all theyโ€™ve accomplished. We canโ€™t wait to see where life takes them next.

From uranium to farming, and just about everything in between, tonight proved that Southern Ohio is FULL of incredible career opportunities! ๐ŸŒŸ

We had a full house at Careers without College Roundtable as teens gathered to hear from professionals representing SIX incredible employers, showcasing the wide range of meaningful careers available right here in our own backyard.

Our speakers shared real opportunities in Southern Ohio offering excellent pay (up to $80/hour!), outstanding benefits like pensions, stock investments, tuition reimbursement, and clear advancement pathways.

But beyond the job titles and paychecks, our panelists dropped invaluable advice that applies to ANY career path:
โœ”๏ธ How to (and how NOT to) show up for an interview
โœ”๏ธ Getting your foot in the door
โœ”๏ธ Working your way up
โœ”๏ธ The power of networking

At PCMP, we are passionate about helping teens discover the right path for them, including paths where they donโ€™t have to leave home, or take on massive college debt, to build successful, meaningful careers that support the lifestyle and future they want.

Thank you to our employers and speakers who made this evening such a powerful experience for our teens.

We have an incredible lineup of local employers and professionals joining us tomorrow night for our Careers without College Roundtable! ๐ŸŽ‰

These speakers will be sharing about REAL career opportunities right here in our community; careers that offer competitive pay, strong benefits, advancement opportunities, and meaningful pathways to success without requiring a traditional four-year degree.

This event is all about helping teens explore the many options available after high school while connecting directly with people doing the work every day. We are excited for our teens to hear firsthand experiences, ask questions, and discover opportunities they may have never considered before.

A huge thank you to each of the employers and speakers investing their time in the next generation. Teens will hear from Brown Federal Services, LLC, Kenworth Truck Co., Adena Health Ohio State Highway Patrol, USDA Farm Service Agency, and ERA Martin & Associates!

We canโ€™t wait for an evening filled with conversation, connection, and career exploration!

Event Detail Reminders:
Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12th
5:30-7:30pm

Open to Ross County high school students

We are SO excited to kick off our summer programming in just over a month! ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿณ

This summer, PCMP will launch Fueling the Future: Teen Cuisine, a free cooking program designed to help teens build confidence in the kitchen, learn how to prepare affordable and healthy meals, and develop lifelong life skills. From grocery shopping on a budget to learning basic cooking techniques, this program is about so much more than food, itโ€™s about independence, wellness, and creating opportunities for our teens to thrive.

Programs like this are only possible because of an incredible community that continues to show up for our youth. ๐Ÿ’™

A HUGE thank you to:
๐Ÿ›’ Walmart Chillicothe - River Trace Lane for supporting this program through a Walmart Grant
๐ŸงผLoweโ€™s of Chillicothe, OH for donating totes and clean up supplies!
๐Ÿ‘• Printex Printing Company for printing these AMAZING PCMP aprons for our teens you see in the photo
๐Ÿด And every single person who has purchased items from our Amazon Wishlist to help us build out our cooking stations, like you see here!

We cannot wait to share more about our lead chef, weekly guest instructors and partners, and the full 10-week curriculum in the coming weeks. But before we launch, we still need a few more supplies to ensure we have enough fully stocked cooking stations for all the teens we are anticipating this summer.

If youโ€™d like to help make this program possible, consider shopping our Amazon Wishlist today and sponsoring a piece of a teenโ€™s cooking station! Every item purchased directly impacts a young person in Ross County. โค๏ธ
