Cee Vee, Texas was originally founded as part of the Mill Iron Ranch. My grandfather, one of the early residents, was one of eighteen children. The 1930’s forged the grit and determination of our family and the close-knit community of Cee Vee, with its stores, post office and cotton gin.

The glue of this little society was the school, where my grandmother was the cook. Somehow crafted of meager ingredients from what we called, “The Commodity Line”, the menu always included her homemade rolls. When the smell of my grandmother’s rolls floated through the halls, love of family and the strength of community surrounded the children.

Once in a while entire families fell on hard times. Without condemnation or scorn, they would be invited to the school for a warm meal, they would be helped harvest their crop, or extended credit at the store. Now when asked if there was one word that would describe Cee Vee, all residents have said without hesitation, “Home”.

In this place of strength, comfort and security, the children were free to learn and challenged to think, but permitted to fail. From these humble beginnings, the children of Cee Vee reached the highest levels of success and meaning in their lives.

I am convinced that the love of one’s place points to something deeper than personal security and material comfort. It expresses a deep desire of every human being to be known and cared for.

The connection between the love of one’s place and dedicated service to one’s community is central to my desire to re-establish Cee Vee as a center for learning and distiller of purpose.

🍋 Every child starts with an entrepreneurial spirit. They want to build, to create, and to test ideas in the real world.

But too often, adults—and endless red tape—shut down that spark. Kids are told it’s too risky, too messy, or not allowed. In the process, they lose the chance to discover how innovation works and what it takes to succeed.

If we want to raise confident, capable adults, we need to nurture—not discourage—that spirit. Children should know that risk and responsibility are part of growth, and that trying, failing, and trying again is how real learning happens.

That’s the foundation of entrepreneurship, and it’s a lesson kids can start learning today.

Timely- but you need to be able to think on a higher level than your emotions will try and let you.

Yes- of course it is ok to be angered, saddened, and frustrated by so many tragedies unfolding.

You wouldn’t be fully human if you were not impacted by the gravity of it all, and we’d be ignorant to willingly turn a blind eye to the battle of good vs. evil.

AND…

It’s never been more important to focus. To lead. To rebuild what seems to be lost and to build what we need for future direction.

To get caught up in the chaos in the form of pointing fingers, making assumptions, creating further divide only weakens our ability to make ourselves stronger, and to help others do the same.

We at least owe that to the good people who have suffered at the hands of evil.

When it’s too late to make things right, it’s time to do right things.

We enter a day of remembrance as many mourn another senseless loss. We encourage people everywhere to not hate, but open your hearts and ask what you could learn. What should you know today that you didn’t know yesterday? What should you do that you didn’t do yesterday.
