Carey 1st Baptist Church Love God, Love People, Make Disciples

06/01/2026

Danny Murphy here and I just want to say this morning was an amazing worship service. It was a refreshing change for our congregation. There were several new faces and some that we have been missing for a while. Praise God for sending Brother Henry Taylor and his wife Velma our way. We are so excited about the future of Carey 1st Baptist Church. We hope to see you all there as we kick off his service as interim with a revival. The date will be announced as soon as we confirm the starting date. We love you all and want fellowship with you regardless of where your Church home may be. We all love and serve the same God.

The Church Council is pleased to present Henry Taylor this Sunday.

Brother Henry Taylor grew up in Taylor, Texas, where he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School before graduating from Taylor High School with the Class of 1985.

He is an eight-year veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving as a Combat Medic.

In August 1986, Bro. Taylor entered the ministry and was licensed and later ordained by Weeping Willow Baptist Church in McDade, Texas.

His first pastoral calling came in 1990 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Columbia, Missouri. Over the years, he has faithfully served as Senior Pastor of:

Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Smithville, Texas
Galilee Baptist Church in Caldwell, Texas
Judea Baptist Church in Granger, Texas

Since retiring from full-time pastoral ministry, Bro. Taylor has continued serving the Lord as an interim pastor and revival speaker for multiple churches throughout Central Texas.

Bro. Taylor has been blessed with his wife of 28 years, Velma. Together they have three adult daughters and two granddaughters.

In addition to ministry, Brother Taylor is also a funeral director and former co-owner of three funeral homes in the Austin area. Though he sold his ownership shares in 2016, he continues assisting with funeral services alongside former colleagues when needed.

To every woman who leads with wisdom, nurtures with patience, creates beauty from chaos, tends what is growing, and carries others through hard seasons with quiet strength.

To the women who teach, encourage, protect, pray, feed, guide, garden, heal, and love deeply — thank you. Your care leaves roots that grow far beyond what you can see.

Happy Mother’s Day to every woman living out the heart of a mother in her own beautiful way. 🌿

Have you heard the parable called ‘The Drowning Man’?

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.
Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof,
"Jump in, I can save you."
The stranded fellow shouted back,
"No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."
So the rowboat went on.
Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat shouted,
"Jump in, I can save you."
To this the stranded man said, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith." So the motorboat went on.
Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”

To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."
So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.
Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!"
To this God replied, "I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?"

This story is a great lesson of learning to listen, see, and critically think. Everyday we are given signs... it's just up to us to see them and act upon them.
Don't let the noise of the world distract you from all the SIGNS God gives us.🙏🏻
