Super proud of the effort these kids put in at this competition! We didn’t get a banner, but we have a great foundation built for next years teams. We are grateful for the memories and the friendships forming in this wonderful organization!! A great group of future leaders!!

Yesterday students got to visit Auburn University Beef Teaching Unit and Lambert Powell Meats Lab. They participated in a Beef 101 program and learned about beef production from pasture to plate. They learned principals of beef quality assurance, carcass evaluation, animal husbandry, and meat fabrication. They even got to see a carcass breakdown from a side of beef to primal and sub primal cuts!

Thank you to Ali Gotcher, Alabama Cattlemen's Association, and College of Agriculture at Auburn University for providing my students with this unique opportunity!

Last night we had the honor of being in the Childersburg Christmas Parade. There were so many community members there to support the many business and organizations present in the parade. We had so much fun getting to showcase the organization we love while connecting with our community.

I would like to extend a special thanks to our Student Advisor Payton Craft for taking the lead on this project. I am so proud of how it turned out. Thank you to all of our chapter members who showed up and showed out to make this float happen!!

This week was a fun one for the students who went with us on this field Trip! We took a trip to the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie Ga but made a few stops along the way. First we did a wonderful tour of the beautiful Abraham Baldwin Ag College campus. Day two was the expo where we saw stock dog trials, cattle sorting, harvesting demonstrations, and lots of equipment and colleges. Day three was a tour of a USDA peanut research facility where students learned all about gene silencing and selective breeding to eliminate the threat of aflatoxins in our peanut industry. It was a long three days but we learned a lot and had even more fun! Can’t beat the memories made on FFA trips!!

We are sooo grateful to Oak Grove Feed and Tack for their sponsorship of our program. This generous donation will go straight towards getting students to the Ag Expo trip we have planned with Lincoln high and Drew middle schools’s FFAs. Without our community partners we would not be able to build the strong FFA program we are trying to achieve. Investing in our future leaders is such an important, inspiring task.
