Yesterday’s 2026 Run the Runway at Westover Metropolitan Airport was so much more than a 5K. It was a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with one purpose — to support those who serve.

The Patriot Wing will be conducting a routine exercise at Westover Air Reserve Base throughout the day, Oct. 7.

During this time, members of the community may see fire and smoke from the fire department training area and emergency vehicles with lights and sirens.

🚨 RUN THE RUNWAY RUNNERS — DEADLINE TOMORROW —09/29/2026! ✈️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

If you’re registered for Run the Runway, don’t forget: your required security clearance must be completed by TOMORROW!

🪪 Pre-run vetting is MANDATORY
✅ REAL ID. Military ID, or Passport required on race day
🔑 Key & bag check will be available
🚫 No bags or personal items may be carried during the run
🐾 Please leave pets at home or prepare to have them held outside the run area.

Because part of this one-of-a-kind 5K takes you into a secure military area at Westover, everyone *MUST BE* cleared in advance.

As long as our Westover warriors are deployed we will continue collecting care packages items. You can drop off with our community partners or bring to any of our upcoming events. Let's show our troops this community is there for them! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️

IYKYK, members of our Westover family have been under deployment orders since April. Now, some wonderful folks at Westover are putting together care packages for those serving overseas, and they’ve asked our community for a little help.

If you’re able to contribute, even one or two items can make a difference and remind our deployed service members that their community back home is thinking of them. ❤️🤍💙

Items specifically requested:
• Jerky
• Trail mix
• Tuna packets
• Ramen
• Oatmeal
• Electrolyte packets
• Gum
• Candy — please avoid chocolate that could melt in transit
• Cookies
• Healthy snacks, such as unsalted nuts
• Baby wipes
