Western Massachusetts, We Need Your Help This Thanksgiving!

Every year, Western Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc. (WMVSI) works to make Thanksgiving a little easier for our currently serving military members and their families. While these men and women serve our country, their families make sacrifices right alongside them. We want them to know their community appreciates them and is here to support them, too.

But this year, we need our community to step up!

Thanksgiving is getting closer, and donations are coming in slowly. We want to make sure the military families counting on us have what they need to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal, but we cannot do it alone.

We’re reaching out to small businesses, large corporations, churches, community organizations, and individuals to ask for your help. You don’t have to be a big company to make a big difference!

Whether you can donate a few cases of canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, other Thanksgiving staples, or a $25 gift card to help a family purchase their turkey, every donation matters!

Think about gathering around the table on Thanksgiving and having the comfort of knowing there is enough for everyone. For families stretching every dollar, that peace of mind can mean so much.

WMVSI is a volunteer-run nonprofit, and we depend on the generosity of our community to make this possible. If you’ve donated before, thank you! If you haven’t, please consider being part of something meaningful this year.

Please donate, share this post, or reach out to your employer, a local business, church, or organization to ask them to help. Sometimes, one share is all it takes to inspire someone to make a difference.

Donations are being accepted through November 15, 2026. Please see our flyer for requested items, drop-off locations, and donation information.

From all of us at WMVSI, thank you for standing with our military members and their families. Let’s show these families that while their loved ones serve our country, their community stands beside them, too!

MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY

Proudly Saluting Our Nation’s Heroes
Friday, September 18
Join us on Opening Day of The Big E as we honor the brave individuals who serve and have served in the United States Armed Forces. Military Appreciation Day is our heartfelt thank you to the heroes in uniform, past and present.

In 2019 the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Services declared that The Big E was the single biggest connecting point for veterans to veterans services; over 8,000 connections made in a single day.

All Active Duty service members and their dependents, as well as retired military and veterans (no dependents), receive free admission to the Fair with presentation of a valid military ID at the gates.

We salute your service. Come enjoy a day of entertainment, tradition and celebration at The Big E!

WMVSI was honored to be part of the celebration welcoming the new F-35 fighter jets to Barnes Air National Guard Base.

We were happy to purchase and hand out free beverages and snacks during the celebration as a small way to show our appreciation for the men and women who serve at Barnes.

As a veteran nonprofit, supporting our military is what we do. Our focus is on standing behind our currently serving military members and their families, and we are grateful for every opportunity to show our appreciation and support.

Being part of events like this is just one small way we can give back to the military community we are so proud to serve. We look forward to continuing to support the men and women of Barnes Air National Guard Base and being there for our military community throughout the year.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this special celebration and to continue building on the strong connection we have with the Barnes community.

As we reflect on our annual WMVSI Bowling Tournament held yesterday, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who helped make this event such a success.

To all of our bowlers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and supporters, thank you for coming together to support Western Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc. Your generosity and commitment help us continue serving veterans, active-duty military members, and their families throughout our community.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to Brandy Mimitz and Nancy Cote. Brandy has proudly served on our Board of Directors for the past two years, and together, she and Nancy have spearheaded this bowling fundraiser, transforming it into an annual tradition that our supporters look forward to each year. Their dedication, countless hours of planning, and passion for our mission have been instrumental in the growth and success of this event. Simply put, this tournament would not be what it is today without them.

To everyone who participated and continues to support WMVSI throughout the year, thank you for believing in our mission. Every dollar raised, every sponsorship secured, and every lane filled helps us provide critical support to those who have served our nation.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of the WMVSI family. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.
