Our mission is to ensure that every person in our community has access to housing they can afford.

You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a meaningful legacy.

October 19th–25th is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, a reminder to consider how your plans can care for the people you love and support the causes that matter to you.

Providing for family and loved ones can come first. You can also leave a percentage of your estate, or a portion of what remains after those gifts are fulfilled, to Chico Housing Action Team. Even a small percentage can help sustain housing and supportive services for our neighbors.

Another option is to name CHAT as a backup, or contingent, beneficiary. Your estate plan can specify that a gift goes to CHAT if your chosen beneficiary passes away before you or legally declines the inheritance.

Legacy gifts can also include a home, land, or other real estate. If you’re considering gifting property, connect with CHAT to discuss the details.

An estate-planning attorney can help you put your wishes into writing and choose an approach that fits your circumstances.

The care you show our community today can continue for generations to come.

Earlier this week, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Builders Village, a milestone that took years to make happen. While the village isn’t open yet, we’re getting closer to welcoming residents home.

Housing changes lives. A safe, stable home gives people a foundation to move forward, and ongoing support helps that stability last.

People may still be recovering from trauma, managing chronic health conditions, rebuilding credit, reconnecting with family, finding employment, or learning to navigate systems they’ve never had access to before.

Without support, those challenges can become barriers that put housing at risk.

That’s why CHAT’s work goes beyond opening doors. Through housing and supportive services, we help people build the stability they need to stay housed and move forward.

There’s still work ahead before residents can move in. As we take this next step, we’re grateful to every donor, partner, volunteer, and team member helping bring Builders Village closer to becoming home.

Share something sweet. Help make a place to call home possible.

We’re seeking dessert donations for the Dessert Dash at CHAT’s 2026 Gala on November 7th at the Sierra Nevada Big Room.

During the Dessert Dash, guests at each table pool their donations for a chance to choose their dessert first. It’s a little friendly competition with a meaningful purpose: supporting CHAT’s housing programs and the neighbors who rely on them.

Whether you’re a local bakery, restaurant, or home baker, your talents can help. A beautiful cake, a favorite pie, or another special dessert can turn a memorable part of the evening into meaningful support for our community.

Everyone has a story. Assumptions rarely tell it.

Homelessness affects families, students, and individuals from many different backgrounds. Yet too often, people are judged by their circumstances before anyone takes the time to understand them.

Finding housing can bring its own barriers. Rental history, income requirements, and other screening criteria can leave people without a way forward, even when they’re ready for a fresh start.

At Chico Housing Action Team, our work starts with listening and recognizing the person behind those barriers. We help people access safe housing and the support they need to build stability.

Because everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. And everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

An evening to celebrate our community. A chance to help more neighbors find a place to call home.

Tickets are available for CHAT’s 2026 Gala, Building Home, Strengthening Community, on Saturday, November 7th, from 5:30–9:30 PM at the Sierra Nevada Big Room.

Enjoy a buffet dinner, your first drink on us, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a Dessert Dash. We’ll also recognize the donors, volunteers, and legacy givers whose generosity helps make CHAT’s work possible.

Individual tickets are $150. Formal attire is requested.

More affordable homes. Stronger partnerships. A community where people can find stability.

These hopes came through at the North State Housing Summit, and they’re taking shape at Builders Village.

As work continues toward welcoming residents in early 2027, this community of 61 homes represents years of planning, partnership, and commitment to helping people find stable housing with the support they need to remain housed.

In this clip from the summit, one attendee shares her hopes for more affordable housing and continued collaboration among local agencies. Her perspective speaks to why projects like Builders Village matter and why this work takes all of us.

We’re sharing these conversations to keep ideas moving and help more people take part in building housing solutions for our region.

CHAT will have a booth at this weekend’s Butte County Veterans Stand Down, and we’d love to connect with you.

This free event brings together service providers and community organizations to help veterans access resources and support. Stop by our booth to meet our team, learn about CHAT’s housing programs and supportive services, and ask questions.

We’re grateful to be part of a community working together to support those who have served.

The event runs through Saturday at the Chico Elks Lodge, 1705 Manzanita Avenue. Hours today are 11 AM – 4 PM, and tomorrow from 11 AM – 2 PM.
