NEW INTAKE ‼️

Meet Cooper! This sweet boy recently came to us because his family wanted to make sure he got the one-on-one attention he deserves. He’s a guy who prefers to be your only four-legged bestie, and there’s nothing wrong with that. 🫶

Since Cooper is a new intake, we are still learning all about him! Here’s what we know so far.

Cooper is a 2 year old Lab mix with medium energy. He enjoys his rest time equally as much as he enjoys going on adventures! He is house trained, walks well on leash, and already has “sit” perfected!

STAFF PICK SPOTLIGHT! 🏆

Abby completed her internship at Chico Pet Vet and went straight to being one of our veterinary assistants! She is now almost 3 years in!

Abby chose to spotlight a dog she previously fostered, Lancelot (AKA Lance)! She chose him because “He brings a lot of joy and is a really good boy.”

Lance deserves a good home because of the potential he has if given the time and dedication. He loves playing fetch, going for runs, and appreciates having another canine around to learn from! He also does great on car rides and in a crate. Despite needing some time to open up, once he does, Lance doesn’t forget the love you give him and will remember the impact you had. With proper introductions and patience, this boy can really thrive as a family dog!

Barrier reactivity is a reaction that can plague even the sweetest dogs in the shelter environment. Harley Quinn is one of these examples.

Behind the kennel door, she can be seen charging, barking, or growling as people pass. However, remove that kennel door, take her outside, and you’ll see a totally different dog. 🐶

Harley Quinn isn’t the barking mess you see in the shelter. She is a super sweet girl who loves receiving all the pets, cuddles, and belly rubs her humans have to give her. While she may be nervous at first while meeting new people, Harley Quinn creates strong bonds with the people she learns to trust.

Harley Quinn, like many other dogs in the shelter system, is not aggressive. She’s simply frustrated by the constant noise, confinement, and overstimulation of shelter life, the exact combination that pulls even the sweetest dogs into ‘reactivity mode.’

Harley Quinn just needs someone willing to look past her stress and give her a chance in a loving environment. 🏠

Glacier got adopted…then was returned just 2 weeks later because the resident pet didn’t get along with him.

Glacier came to us as a puppy, just 7 weeks old, from another shelter. The only home he’s ever really known is here and those 2 weeks away. Now, he’s back, waiting for his second chance. ❤️

This happy-go-lucky, year-old Chihuahua mix is super friendly with humans and dogs alike! He loves exploring with his people and playing with his canine friends, but after a long day, he's always down to cuddle up and soak in all the love. Glacier would thrive with an outgoing family that can match his energy and give him the loving home he deserves.

🐾 Meet Cleo!
Cleo is a loving 2-year-old girl looking for a special forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and understood.

Cleo has Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome (Twitchy Skin Syndrome), a condition that can cause increased sensitivity of the skin, twitching, and occasional periods of discomfort or overstimulation.

Despite this, Cleo is a sweet girl who deserves someone willing to give her the patience, love, and care she needs.

STAFF PICK SPOTLIGHT! 🏆

Mike has been a kennel assistant since February! He adopted his dog from us and loves taking him fishing on his days off!

Mike chose Hugo to spotlight because he is an energetic puppy who needs a good home! “He has a lot of energy and doesn’t need to be cooped up in a kennel, he needs someone willing to work with him and give him lots of exercise.”

Being part Mallinois, Hugo is full of energy and is ready to put it to good use! He is smart, eager to please, and does well with training. While he does have a whole bunch of puppy energy, Hugo also does enjoy his cuddle time and being a shadow, following his people around wherever. With a committed family willing to provide him with the proper stimulation and consistency this puppy needs, Hugo can really blossom into a great companion!
