On February 22, 2018, Umpqua Bank honored the Junior Leadership Development Program (JLDP) with the grant of $2,500 from its Community Giving Fund to help support the non-profit organization’s work with students who are identified as being at-risk of not graduating from high school. A primary goal of the Umpqua Community Giving Fund is to aid youth up to age 18 in achieving high school graduation, followed with a clearly defined post-secondary path toward college, tech and career readiness. Umpqua Community Giving Fund only accepts proposals from direct-service programs that seek to achieve these goals. Over the last six years, JLDP has worked with more than 300 youth throughout Butte and Tehama counties, and has successfully guided 96% of them to timely high school graduation, with more than 85% of them going on to enroll in post-secondary educational pursuits. Umpqua Bank has been a significant supporter of JLDP in that work for the last three years, and is a valued community partner. We at JLDP are deeply grateful to Umpqua Bank for their confidence in, and support of our stated mission: to ensure that every youth is provided the skills to overcome situational obstacles, and given the resources and opportunity to achieve the utmost in their personal, educational and community membership goals.
