People on the home front were reminded every day of the effects of World War II when they used cash to purchase items. Both paper money and coins saw changes because of the war. Some changes, like what metals were used to make US coins, were due to material shortages. Other changes, like money in Hawai'i, the Philippines, and Guam and the money used in incarceration camps were strategic.

Hello all, our next Chico Stamp & Coin Club meting will not be at the Chico Library, but not because of the incident. The Chico Library was already planned to close for up to the next year for remodeling. This means that we will need to find a new home for our meetings for the next few months.

Our meeting for 6pm on Tuesday July 7th will be held at one of our member's homes. We are looking at several options for future meetings, and we will keep you apprised right here on Facebook.

Members needing the address please send me a message here or txt, and we will let you know.

For now, please do keep the Staff and Patrons of the Chico Library in your thoughts. The Chico Library is an amazing resource for our community, and as soon as they are ready for us to return, we will be there!

Please keep the staff and our fellow patrons of the Chico Library in your thoughts tonight.

We are aware of the tragic incident that occurred today at the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library and extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected, including the victims, their loved ones, library staff, and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident.

As law enforcement personnel continue their work, we ask the public to avoid the area. For accurate and up-to-date information, please follow the Chico Police Department

All Butte County Library Branches will be closed on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
