Forensic Anthropology at Chico State enters a new era! Chico State is breaking ground on the new Human Identification Laboratory (HIL), a cutting-edge facility that will expand the abilities to serve communities across California and beyond.
The HIL is Californiaās only full-time forensic anthropology lab and the largest west of Texas. Its dedicated team has helped recover and identify victims of disasters like the 2018 Camp Fire and the Maui and Los Angeles wildfires, working alongside partners such as Cal OES, the Department of Defense, and the FBI.
The new 28,600-square-foot building will expand lab space, triple refrigeration capacity, and include advanced DNA and isotope labs. Itās designed to give Chico State students more opportunities to learn, research, and serve communities in need.
Join us for the groundbreaking celebration!
