Stansbury Home Preservation Assoc.

Built in 1883 by Dr Oscar Stansbury, the home stands today as it did at the turn of the century.

The Stansbury Home is a Victorian home built by Dr. Oscar Stansbury in 1883. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and in 1991 was listed as supporting the South Campus Historic District. While the home is now the property of The City of Chico, the Stansbury Home Preservation Association is charged with the responsibility to fund and maintain the 19th century hist

oric residence in it’s original state. The Stansbury Home is located at the corner of Fifth and Salem streets and is open for public tours on Sat. & Sun. 1-4pm; donations of $5 per adult and $3 for children 12 and under are requested.

🌞 Due to the extreme heat, the Stansbury Home will be closed this weekend to help keep our volunteers and visitors safe.

Don’t worry—we’d still love to share the beauty and history of the Stansbury Home with you! If you’d like to schedule a private tour on a cooler day, simply send us a DM, and we’ll do our best to arrange a time that works.

☀️ Weekend Closure Notice 🏛️

Due to the expected heat, the Stansbury Home Museum will be closed this weekend, Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th. The comfort and safety of our volunteers and visitors is always our top priority. ❤️

We're hopeful that, with the continued support of our incredible community, we'll be able to complete our goal of installing air conditioning by the end of the year! ❄️ Every step toward that goal helps preserve the Stansbury Home and makes it a more comfortable place for everyone to enjoy.

While we won't be open this weekend, we encourage you to spend some time exploring our wonderful downtown! 🍕🛍️

Tomorrow (Saturday, July 11), don't miss Downtown Chico's Slice of Chico It's a great opportunity to support local businesses, enjoy delicious watermelon 🍉, and experience everything that makes Downtown Chico so special. 🎉

The Stansbury House will be closed on Saturday, July 4th and July 5th, as we celebrate Independence Day with our families and community.

As America celebrates its 250th Birthday, we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. ❤️ Your enthusiasm and love for preserving our local history mean so much to us, and we're grateful to have such an amazing community.

We wish everyone a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day filled with family, friends, and celebration! 🇺🇸✨

To our incredible Chico community—thank you. ❤️

Seeing so many familiar faces at our Ice Cream Social reminded us of something truly special: even in difficult times, this community continues to show up for one another.

After a week that has left many of us heartbroken, your smiles, conversations, laughter, and support were a beautiful reminder that Chico is resilient. We caught a glimpse of hope, healing, and the strength that comes from gathering together. Thank you for continuing to support the Stansbury Home time and time again. Your presence means more than you know.

Today, we will be closed as our volunteers take time to clean up after the event and prepare the house for another wonderful day of welcoming visitors.

🏡 We’ll be back open for tours on Sunday, June 28, from 1:00–3:00 PM. We hope you’ll stop by, say hello, and continue making memories with us.

✨🏠 GRWM: Ice Cream Social Edition 🍦✨

Good morning, Chico! ☀️

Tomorrow is my big day, so naturally I had to schedule a little spa treatment. 💅🫧

Today, Olli's Pressure Washing Inc. stopped by to help me freshen up after 142 years of weather, dust, pollen, and the occasional spider who thought they owned the place. 🕷️😅

💦 Step 1: Exfoliate the siding
💦 Step 2: Rinse away the cobweb couture
💦 Step 3: Reveal my Victorian glow-up
💦 Step 4: Practice looking fabulous for visitors

I may have been built in 1883, but tomorrow I’m serving fresh, clean, and ready-for-ice-cream energy. ✨🍨

A huge thank you to Olli's Pressure Washing for helping me look my best before welcoming everyone to the Ice Cream Social! ❤️

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to finish fluffing my hydrangeas and perfecting my front-porch pose. 🌸📸
