🌱 Help us keep local food local.

Butte County Local Food Network is looking for businesses and community partners to sponsor our Farm to Table events and the work that happens between them.

These dinners are a celebration of what we are working toward every day: a stronger local food system where our farmers are supported, our kids know where their food comes from, and more locally grown food makes its way into our schools and communities.

Sponsorships range from $250 to $5,000 and include year round recognition opportunities, Farm to Table tickets at select levels, and the chance to put your business behind something that directly benefits Butte County.

Your sponsorship supports our GROWN Farm to School educators, Farmers Market Mobile and gleaning team, community gardens, and our continued work with local farmers.

🍂 The McManus Garden: Fall Edition is beginning!
Fall has found its way into the garden. The days are getting shorter, the air is beginning to cool, and our McManus students are learning that a garden changes right along with the seasons. 🌱
After a summer of incredible growth, it was time to refresh the beds and make room for something new. Through GROWN, students have been learning what it takes to transition a garden into fall, clearing old growth, preparing the soil, and thinking about which plants will thrive as the weather cools.
And now, the seeds are in the ground. 🌱💚 little GROWN seeds facilitate big ideas and green garden dreams!

Our students worked in teams to create Venn diagrams exploring foods they love, foods that are good for their bodies, and the foods that fit into BOTH! 🍉🥦🍓
Students shared their favorite foods, talked about what different foods can do for our bodies, and worked together to decide where each food belonged on their diagram. They quickly discovered there was plenty of overlap between foods they enjoy and foods that help them grow, learn, and stay healthy. 💚
Activities like this get students talking, thinking, and learning from one another while building a stronger understanding of nutrition and the foods they eat every day.

💐🍉 Today was one of those really special days.

We received a beautiful donation of fresh flowers from local farmer Bon Moua, giving our students the opportunity to make their own bouquets to surprise their parents and families.

Before we started, the kids learned about Bon, his farm, and the region where he grows. We talked about the people behind our local food and flowers and why knowing the farmers in our own community matters.

The students carefully picked out their flowers and created their own bouquets to take home. They were so excited knowing they had something special to surprise their families with. ❤️

We also got to enjoy some of the last watermelon of the season together. 🍉

A huge thank you to Bon Moua for sharing his harvest with our students. Experiences like this are exactly why connecting kids with local farmers is such an important part of GROWN. They aren't just learning where things come from. They're learning about the people who grow them, experiencing what is in season, and bringing a little piece of that experience home to their families. 🌱💐

We’re excited to team up with Golden Valley Bank and T-Bar for a special T-Bar Takeover benefiting the Butte County Local Food Network!

Join us on October 21st from 4:00–8:00 PM at T-Bar in Chico. When you stop in for dinner, drinks, or one of your T-Bar favorites, 20% of your purchase will be donated to support BCLFN! 🍅🥕🌻

Funds raised help us continue the work we do throughout Butte County—from connecting communities with locally grown food and supporting our local farmers to bringing garden and food education to thousands of local students.

Thank you, Chico State! 🌱

We are so grateful to Chico State for once again welcoming Butte County Local Food Network to its Career Fair!

We have participated in this event for multiple years, and it has become an important part of how we connect with students who want to turn what they are learning into meaningful work in their community.

Many of our interns come to us through Chico State, studying everything from public health to other fields that bring new skills and perspectives to our work. Our interns get hands on experience in food systems, education, community outreach, gardens, local food access, and nonprofit work. Even better, we have been able to hire interns who started their journey with us through connections made at events like this.

Thank you, Chico State, for continuing to create opportunities for students and community organizations to find each other. We love being part of it and meeting the next group of students ready to GROW with us! 🌱💚

Where does our food actually come from? 🌱🥛🌾

Students at Chico Achieve Middle School are digging deeper into their food system and tracing the journey our food takes before it reaches our plates.

Through games and hands on activities, students worked together to put the pieces in order from start to finish, exploring where everyday foods and ingredients like beef, cheese, butter, and flour actually come from and what it takes to produce them.

And of course, food education is always better when you get to eat! We finished the lesson by enjoying some homemade banana bread together. 🍌🍞

This is what GROWN is all about. Helping students understand their food, where it comes from, and the people and processes that make every meal possible. 💚

Our Free The Food Stands are a grassroots way for neighbors to share their garden abundance with the community. Drop off extra whole fruits and vegetables you’ve grown or gleaned, plant starts, or seeds—and help make sure good food gets eaten instead of going to waste. 💚
📍 Stands are located throughout Paradise, Magalia, Stirling City, Oroville, Gridley, and Chico.

The Elephant Farm Inc. just dropped off a ton of freshly picked produce from our Top 9 Food Allergen-free Garden at the Butte County Local Food Network’s stand on W 16th St in Chico

We’re so happy to share what we’re growing with our local community to help get fresh, garden-grown produce into the hands of local families!
