🌾 Something exciting is growing in Butte County...

This October, we're bringing schools together for the 1st Annual Butte-iful Farm to Cafeteria Initiative in celebration of California Farm to School Week!

We're inviting every school district, nutrition director, cafeteria team, superintendent, principal, teacher, parent, and community partner to join us in celebrating the incredible food grown right here in Butte County.

Our challenge is simple:
🍎 Serve at least one locally sourced fruit, vegetable, or protein each day during October 5–9, 2026.

Every local item served helps:
🌱 Support Butte County farmers
πŸ₯• Connect students with where their food comes from
🏫 Strengthen relationships between schools and local agriculture
πŸ’š Invest in a healthier future for our community

This is more than a week of local foodβ€”it's the beginning of a countywide tradition celebrating the people who grow our food and the students who will shape its future.

A huge thank you to our partners for helping make this initiative possible:

🀝 North Valley Food Hub
🀝 Butte County Local Food Network
🀝 Gridley Unified School District Nutrition Services
🀝 Tending Terra

TODAY! Bringin’ in the Bees! 🐝🌼

Come spend the morning with us at Bumblebee Community Garden in Paradise for a hands-on pollinator garden and habitat workshop!

We’ll be planting pollinator-friendly plants, removing invasive species, learning about plants that thrive in our Zone 9b climate and clay soils, and talking about how we can create healthier habitat for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.

🎨 Plus β€” help us create a community mural!
Everyone is invited to add a brushstroke to a collaborative pollinator mural that will be donated to Bumblebee Community Garden.

Saturday, August 29 | 9 AM–12 PM
Bumblebee Community Garden
253 Burden Terrace, Paradise

No gardening experience needed, and all ages are welcome! Come plant, restore, learn, paint, and help us make this community garden a little more pollinator-friendly. 🌱
