Come Garden with us and you can have some plants. We have some garden boxes and will be installing new summer plants. We need to remove the weeds and maintain the woodchips. Come on by for coffee and snacks provided 9am to 11 am!

Looking for a gift or a piece of artwork to own for yourself? South Chico Community Assistance Center invites you to the closing reception and artwork release for Ephemera: An Exhibition of Letting Go.

Each piece is the hands and heart of our community, and in the spirit of letting go, the show closes with an artwork release, a distribution and sharing of our works and worlds we have each created through.

“I’ve spent this semester working as a curatorial intern under a professor I greatly admire, focusing on a community I so care for. We collected art supplies and put together a show featuring quick works dedicated to the power that our hopes, dreams, and hardships have to shape our worlds if we say them aloud and release them into the universe.

The show opens this Friday with appetizers and conversation, and it will continue to decorate the community center for all those who utilize the space throughout the month.” -Cala Mathieu

To all artists and non-artists, we invite you to participate in our upcoming art exhibition! Use our supplies and take this moment to consider what you may need to say, feel, and let go of.

Artworks made for this exhibition will be released and shared. Participate at our next two open pantries as well as at open work hours Nov 8th from 5-8pm!

We have redesigned the way we welcome new volunteers to assist at our pantries.

We previously utilized Google Forms for volunteer requests, though our ability to keep up with that format has proven itself to be out of our capacity. If you have recently filled out that form, my apologies, we’d love to see you at our new volunteer weekends!

Hi everyone, Rich Ober here. We know the need in our community is really visible. At yesterday’s SCCAC food drive so many people were looking to GET food, not GIVE food. And our shelves are taking a beating. We need the givers to step up. Please bring your shelf-stable food donation to us TONIGHT at 1805 Park Ave, 4-6:30pm. Can’t wait to see you there!

Call to action! We’re featured on the front page of Chico Enterprise Records this week. We’re honored and grateful, and looking to boost up our sparse shelves for the next open pantry.

We invite you to join us in showing up for our community this week through our food drive! Go through your cupboards, stop by the grocery store, and drop off non-expired, unopened shelf stable food items this THURSDAY and FRIDAY from 4-6:30PM.

We don’t require any information from our visitors in order to pick up food from our pantry! We’ll make conversation to get a sense of how we’re supporting our community should they feel comfortable sharing. Tomorrow we’ll be trying out a friendly, anonymous, and optional survey that will help us understand how far our food distributions really go for our neighbors.

Stop by our open pantry tomorrow from 2-4pm, as well as every second and fourth Saturday of the month. 1805 Park Ave, Chico.
