I'm excited to share some new NEWS for the Chico Craft Café! 📰

We are shifting - from camps and classes just for kids - to classes, activities and community events for EVERYONE! 🎉

We are becoming a non-profit with the intent of reducing social isolation and loneliness by fostering meaningful human connections that bring people of ALL AGES together, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and real-world engagement! 😍

As our first event, we will be gathering to make healthy snacks for the New Year on Sunday, January 4th at 2pm (allow up to 3 hours)! Cost is $40/person to cover food expenses. This is NOT a cooking class, it is a collaboration to enjoy each other's company while learning together how to make great-tasting healthy snacks! 😋

🌟 Unique Opportunity at Chico Craft Café! 🌟

I’m opening up a limited number of trade spots in my homeschool enrichment classes (Educational Games, Fun with Phonics & Home Ec/Life Skills).

Here’s how it works:

Classes run 3 hours.

In exchange for your child’s spot, I ask for equal time of parent help with organizing, yard projects, or other behind-the-scenes tasks that keep our learning space thriving.

This is a great way to get your child into our creative, hands-on learning community without paying tuition. These spots are intended for new families only.

If you’re interested, send me a message so we can see if it’s a good fit!

✨ Please note: this is a special program separate from our regular tuition-based enrollment. Current families, your support keeps us going, and these trade spots are a way to expand our community while also strengthening our space. Thanks!

First day of Home Ec/Life Skills was so fun! Here's what we did:

*The kids put together a rolling cart without any instruction from me. They worked together and made sure everyone had a job! Biggest takeaway might have been right tighty, lefty loosey, lol.

*We visited the garden and sampled some cherry tomatoes, but not before stopping for some raisins at the grape-drying station! We learned about frost dates & planting seasons, then they got to plant seeds of their choice in our mini greenhouse pods!

*During our lunch break, I got to witness flips, back flips and layouts on the trampoline! 😅🤪😎

*Next was smoothie making time! Each student got to concoct their own fruit recipe and share it with the others. Chocolate protein shake with strawberries and bananas was my favorite!

*One of our learning activities today was a lesson on Social Skills! We watched a short video that taught 10 great skills and then we practiced making conversation by asking questions about Family, Occupation (or school/activities), Recreation, and Motivation (FORM).

*Lastly, we had to get our art fix in by doing some pour paint! This was a first for the kids and they loved it!

Very successful day. Three spots left if anyone else is interested!

Had a blast at our first Fun with Phonics class today! We started from the beginning, working on letter recognition through games, songs, flash cards, word building and chalk writing! Need some additional kiddos from TK-1st grade at the Thursday 10am to 1pm time slot if we're gonna be able to run the class! I know it's a scheduling thing for some of you, but I hope we can find enough students to stick with it! Teaching littles to read is so rewarding and I can't wait to see weekly progress!

It's taken a little longer than usual to finalize our classes for the semester, but here we are!! Approved vendor for Core Butte, South Sutter & Lake View!

Fall 2025 Class Descriptions:

Mondays, 10am - 1pm
Educational Games: Math & Reading (Grades 2-6): The best way to improve math and reading skills is to make it fun! We will play all types of games that increase your child's ability to process, strategize, deduce and think quickly with words and numbers. We also include 30 minutes of home-curriculum assistance for each subject (math & reading) during the class.

Thursdays, 10am - 1pm
Fun with Phonics (Grades TK - 1st):
Explore the building blocks of reading through engaging, hands-on activities that bring letters and sounds to life. Children will enjoy songs, stories, games, and crafts that reinforce key phonics concepts such as letter recognition, beginning sounds, blending, rhyming, and early word formation.

Fridays, 10am - 1pm
Home Economics/Life Skills (Grades 2-8): Learn everyday skills in an engaging, interactive setting! We will cover everything from hand-sewing to laundry, making cookies to setting a table, money management to gardening, and more.
