Vets helping Vets, we aim to maintain partnerships with local agencies and providers; in turn we are able to develop strong bonds with and foster growth in our residents. The Veteran Executive Corporation To Organize Rehabilitative Services (VECTORS) organization has been providing support to veterans in Chico, Ca since 1996 including:
-A clean and sober living environment
-24 month transitional
housing
-Referrals to community agencies for specialized treatment
-Supervised case management
-Employment Search Assistance
-Life Skill Enhancement
-Assistance applying for VA benefits including school, disability, medical, etc.
-Assessment for phycological or medical problems
At the Jerry L. Knight House, Veterans are carefully evaluated to ensure
maximum potential for a successful transitional experience. We provide case management for
the Veterans in our program to ensure every opportunity leads to a successful
outcome. VECTORS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, which incurs costs as a result of case management for our clients and the necessary expenses
for the maintenance and future expansion of the transitional housing facility. DONATIONS:
Many types of donations are accepted at
the Jerry L. Donations
should be clean, dry, and serviceable. We
do accept monetary gifts in addition to
clothing, linen, food, furnishing, and inkind services. We can provide receipts upon request. OUR MISSION:
VECTORS will use a holistic model of approach that serves our brothers and sisters in need. We will maintain our many partnerships in our region. We will collaborate with as many agencies and service providers as necessary to produce strong bonds that foster growth of our residents. We will only graduate self reliant individuals into our society. The Jerry L. Knight housing facility is a key piece of this continuum of care and a hub for the processes to end the cycle of homelessness for our veterans. OUR GOALS:
We at VECTORS continue our vision of an ever broadening scope of services to enhance the current program for our veterans in the Jerry L. Knight facility. Services currently include room & board, assessment of needs, budget
management, initiating claims for VA and other social benefits, coordinating
services with the VA as well as referrals to other community agencies for mental,
medical, and employment needs. We intend to expand our services to a larger
campus for the men and add a facility for women veterans and families. We
continue to seek out new opportunities to fund these programs to provide the
necessary resources for our services. We hope to continue to offer all of
VECTORS services for many years. OUR HISTORY:
In 1991, Jerry L. Knight, a local veteran, led a small committee to Washington D.C. and successfully lobbied congress for the only Vet Center in the U.S. which was a
direct result of a grass roots effort on the part of community veterans. VECTORS was officially formed by this group in 1994 and began to provide re-integration services to local veterans. The first house was obtained in 1996 to provide a 6 bed facility for the transition to independent living. In 2005, a successful petition to the City of Chico for a larger facility was passed. In November 2005 the Jerry L. Knight House opened its doors to provide services to 15 residents.
