The truth about Juneteenth…
Black Americans who are descendants from enslaved Africans deserve the resources to rest, heal, and live into the liberation of Juneteenth. ⬇️
Our communities are exhausted, and rightfully so. The historical stress of enslavement still impacts our health, well-being, and socioeconomic status to this day.
We’re calling on our allies to deepen their commitment to racial justice by donating the wages they would have made this Juneteenth to Free Root Operation so we can redistribute to Black families through our free wellness programs. 👛📢🗣
Our BLOOM Programs are simple at their core: we provide wellness, economic justice, and education resources so that people can live well and restore their communities.
In the context of the city it’s in—it’s an innovative approach to addressing a failing public safety and public health infrastructure. And a necessity, because our constituents said so. ⬇️

Black single moms and women in Chicago told us they were exhausted, they didn’t have support or resources to practice self-care, they were low, and they were struggling with the impacts of poverty-induced gun violence. They told us the needed help, specific help.
Our BLOOM Programs are an answer to their needs. With your help, it’s a seed in the fertile soil of a Chicago where everyone is well, where everyone is cared for, where everyone is safe and well. 💜
