North River Youth Council

North River Youth Council The North River Youth Council gives young people a voice on the issues that directly impact us. (formerly the 33rd Ward Youth Council)

We aim to inform, unite, and mobilize our community to cultivate healthy, safe, and sustainable neighborhoods. We work with high school students in the 33rd, 35th, 39th, 40th, 45th, and 50th wards in Chicago, IL.

Our president is heading to Loyola University to study political science after serving for four years with the NRYC. She is also currently serving as a commissioner on the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability, where she works to ensure that youth voices are taken into account in public safety decisions.

Today, we recognize Derek Jones, who is headed to Dominican University, where he will continue making his community better while majoring in nursing.
