The Spirit of Shea is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created in honor of our son, Shea Cohn, who we lost at age 16. We’re working to support causes that Shea loved!

The first fundraiser of 2026 was a success! This fundraiser supported Education Advocacy Supports for children and families in the special education system in need of resources and representation in the local Chicago area. Thank you to everyone who supported or attended our event this past weekend. A special thank you to our board member .m.urban for organizing and hosting this wonderful event! We look forward to many more to come in 2026 💙

Tuesday, December 2nd, is the most giving day of the year. Let's help more kids have the greatest adventures and opportunities possible! The Shea Cohn Memorial Fund has supported kids in multiple states with music opportunities, new uniforms, summer camps, adventures big and small. All endeavours Shea loved. Now that we are a non-profit, we can continue supporting others through The Spirit of Shea. The Spirit of Shea is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created in honor of Shea Cohn, who we lost at age 16.

Shea died in a motor vehicle accident, and it changed all of us who knew him. All of Shea’s friends and family admired and loved Shea. He packed so much into his sixteen years: music, sports, exploring, creating, traveling, and making everyone feel included.

The Spirit of Shea helps carry all of that forward by supporting the causes Shea cared about. Giving kids, teens, and young adults chances to learn, play, explore, and experience life the way he did. This is our way to keep Shea’s spirit shining.
