The AUSL Teacher Residency Priority Application Deadline is October 7. Apply by the priority deadline and get a head start on your path toward the classroom.

Through the AUSL Teacher Residency, you’ll spend a full school year learning alongside an experienced mentor teacher while earning your master’s degree and working toward your teaching license.

What makes Funston Elementary special? Just ask the people who teach there. 💙

For Nora, Sally and Tony, it’s the collaboration, strong relationships with families and a school community committed to supporting every student.

All three work in Funston’s cluster classrooms, specialized classrooms designed to provide students with disabilities with more intensive, individualized support.

As Nora shares, one thing that stands out is how much Funston values its SECAs (Special Education Classroom Assistants) and the important role they play in supporting students both inside and outside of cluster classrooms.
Their connection also goes beyond Funston.

Tony served as an AUSL mentor teacher for both Nora and Sally, helping prepare them for their own careers in the classroom. Today, they’re colleagues at Funston, bringing their AUSL connection full circle.

As Sally shares, AUSL gave her the path she needed as a career changer. And for Tony, working with AUSL residents has strengthened his own teaching practice, too.

The first day of school is here! 🍎📚

As Chicago Public Schools students head back to the classroom today, our AUSL residents are beginning an exciting new chapter of their own.

Earlier this month, our Chicago Teacher Residency cohort came together for professional development, connecting with the mentor teachers who will support, challenge, and learn alongside them throughout the year.

Now, the real journey begins. Residents will spend the school year learning alongside experienced educators, building relationships with students, and putting their training into practice as they prepare to lead classrooms of their own.
