August donations are wrapping up today! The staff has put in a lot of work in taking donations this week and we already put so many new things out. There’s some pretty cool fabric, buttons and more SEWING MACHINES. We even got a screen printing press, a HUGE canvas, and a slide projector. Come take your pick of our new (technically not new) items.

Side note: I found a painting that reminds me of William Shakespeare and the creepy box guy from “Other side of the Box”. The energy coming from it is weird and if I have to see it, so do you. 👁️👁️

After many months of searching, The WasteShed Evanston's new home is finally in sight: Broadway and Foster in Edgewater!

We will miss our Evanston neighbors (come see us at 1245 Hartrey until September 20th) but we're very excited for our fabulous new neighborhood!

Our new location features:
-an extra 1000sf for more materials, more programs and classes, more community!
-Two red line L stops within a couple blocks!

We need your help to make the transition to the new space! So far, with the support of our community, we've covered our security deposit and first month's rent, but to cover movers, fixtures, buildout and loss of income while we're closed, we need to raise $45,000 by October 1st.

Join us on Thursday September 3rd at 7pm at Happy Gallery for our summer artist residency's show, Murmurations: Playing in the Edge Habitat. The WasteShed held it's first ever summer artist residency (SCREECH) this year. Artist came together for talks with biologist, artist, and other eco adjacent people. Everyone involved in screech has worked so hard on their projects, so please join us for this show!

In April, artist Katelyn Patton joined us for a months long class on the basics of Natural Dye. She's back this September for another four week long class! Katelyn will be teaching Natural Dye Basics Pt.2: Blue and Pink. This class will expand on the concepts from Natural Dye Basics, but beginners are also welcome! We'll use indigo and cochineal to build a color story of blues, pinks and purples.

Imagine: It’s 2008 and your class got called to take a trip to the school library. With the $20 your mom gave you in your pocket, you’re excited to see everything they have in the scholastic book fair. You pick up a Guinness World Records 2008 edition, plastic jewelry, a cute notebook, and a mini sketchbook. You’re ITCHING to carry it back to class and show off to the ugly boy who’s always pulling your hair when the teacher isn’t looking.
