Yes — we are a registered 501(c)(3).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Alongside the Chicago Fire Department Pipes & Drums (also a nonprofit), we raise funds to support our shared mission of honoring fallen first responders and veterans.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But this isn’t just any nonprofit.⁣⁣
Our band was 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐏𝐃 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐏𝐃 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 — to honor the fallen, represent the badge with dignity, and uphold a tradition rooted in service and sacrifice.⁣⁣

But here’s the part many don’t know:⁣⁣
🎖️ The active CPD sworn department members in our band are also members of the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝, serving as the official 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝. ⁣⁣

Joining the Honor Guard is more than wearing the uniform — it’s an incredible honor and source of pride to represent the Chicago Police Department with professionalism and respect at every ceremony and event. The excitement of standing as one unit, carrying forward tradition while honoring our fallen, is unmatched.⁣⁣

The Chicago Police Department remembers Patrolman James Michael O'Connor, #4573, EOW September 16, 1995. Patrolman O'Connor was killed in the line of duty after intervening in a robbery while off-duty.

Patrolman O'Connor served in the U.S. Marines for 4 years and was with the Department for 16 months. He was survived by his parents and siblings.

Better late than never... the combined bands of CFD and CPD had the honor of traveling to France in June to perform at the 80th Annivesary of D-Day. What an absolute honor it was!

This past weekend, the combined bands of the CFD and the Pipes and Drums of the CPD Honor Guard had the honor of performing at the NASCAR Chicago 165. It's always a pleasure to perform with our fellow 1st responders from CFD and be able to showcase Chicago's Finest and Bravest!
