Whether you’re a Chamber member, a local business owner, or a local resident wanting to chat about neighborhood ideas, stop by and hang out with us!

Since October is Women’s Small Business Month, it’s also the perfect excuse to show some love to our host, Hey, I Thought of You! Carolyn launched this amazing spot—packed with curated local art, gifts, and creative workshops—exactly two years ago, and we’re so excited to mark her anniversary with this meet-up.

Come learn about our small business services, pitch a new business idea, or just mingle with your neighbors. It’s completely free to attend—just bring yourself!

🇵🇷 Off of Elston in Irving Park is a magical space where you can have a coffee, get your hair done, and build community with artists and your neighbors. Scissor & Fork was started by Ashlee Grant who combines her Puerto Rican upbringing in Chicago with her love for New Orleans and fostering community.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my Puerto Rican family. Food, music, and dancing were really big parts of our culture. As I got older, I disconnected with that side of my family but now I’m at this point where I’m reconnecting with my roots. I went to Puerto Rico 2 years ago and the people are so loving and full of life. Visiting really changed my perspective and opened my eyes. Especially when it comes to food, which is my love language. Having this cafe is really meaningful because I get to feed and nourish people, which is a big part of Puerto Rican culture. I’m learning a lot and I’m really proud of my roots.

⭐️ Hispanic Heritage Month is happening now (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15) and we are showcasing our Latine Chamber of Commerce members. As always, be sure to shop local and show love to our Latine businesses!

🤝💼 North River Commission and the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce were honored to attend “The Soul of Chicago: A Small Business Celebration” at City Hall with Mayor Brandon Johnson. The gathering brought together community chambers, city leadership, and local founders to uplift Black and Brown entrepreneurs driving economic growth across our city. ChicagoBACP

Key highlights from the event:
🗣️ Soul Ramen: Owner Arianne McDuffie delivered a candid, powerful speech sharing the triumphs, challenges, and resilience required to build a business in Chicago today.
🍹 Morelia Liquors: Representatives from Little Village took the mic to highlight the cultural and economic strength of the 26th Street commercial corridor.
🏛️ BACP Commissioner Ivan Capifali: Remarks were shared honoring Commissioner Capifali ahead of his retirement, recognizing his nearly three decades of city service supporting Chicago’s small business community.
🎤 Mayor Brandon Johnson: Mayor Johnson officially celebrated the day in honor of small business owners, reaffirming that local neighborhood founders are the true soul of Chicago.

The September Chamber Chat at Uri Cafe & Baklava was a late September morning filled with connection, culture, and incredible flavors!

Local business owners and neighbors gathered to swap stories, learn about each other’s ventures, and hear the unique origin story behind Uri Cafe & Baklava.

Attendees raved about the venue, we loved its calm, welcoming vibe- perfect for future community gatherings and work meetings. Over delicious Turkish delights, baklava, and Mexican-style lattes like mazapán and cajeta, guests filled out their September Chamber Chat Bingo Cards to get one step closer to winning a social media business spotlight.
