The Disabled Patriot Fund was formed in 2004 by a group of area business people and local officials who came together because of a common interest; to “Provide assistance for local U.S. veterans and their families adversely affected by their military service”.

Since 2004, we have had some of the founding board members retire and attained new members along the way. The one thing that has remained constant is everyone’s commitment to control the organization as an all-volunteer board to ensure that all donations to the Disabled Patriot Fund go to our main cause of helping our injured veterans in need of immediate assistance. The Disabled Patriot Fund is proud to be able to declare that over 90% of every dollar collected goes directly to the veterans and their families that are in need.

Doc’s story begins at 17 years old when he joined the Navy SEALs right out of high school. He spent the next decade of his life with no choice but to live at the peak of physical and mental performance. For most people, serving in one of the world’s most elite special forces would be enough of an accomplishment, but not for Doc.

After serving with the SEALs, Doc entered medical school at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda. Doc graduated in 2004, 1 year after the birth of his third child. He interned in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Balboa Naval Hospital San Diego in 2005 and subsequently completed a Navy residency in Hyperbarics and Diving Medicine in 2006.
