Illinois was the first state to pass a law penalizing boycott of Israel. 35 states followed. We have a chance to repeal it — and we need all hands on deck before April 30.
HB2723 has a subject matter hearing Wednesday at 10AM - follow us here for updates on where to watch it.

URGENT!! After two cancelled hearings, we are finally making our case to repeal the IL anti-boycott law that penalizes companies if they engage in boycott of Israel. The hearing is scheduled for April 30, and we need as many folks as possible to submit witness slips as Proponents of HB 2723. Go to our linktree to get it done and share with your networks!

As Israeli lawmakers toast with champagne to celebrate the passage of a law reinforcing the apartheid state, Illinois still prohibits companies in its pension from boycotting the Israeli government or Israeli companies. We cannot continue to shield the Israeli government from accountability as genocide, land seizures, regional wars, and apartheid laws continue to escalate and rob Palestinian people of basic human rights and dignity. Visit our linktree to send a letter to your representative to repeal this law.

Inspired by the Illinois Accountability Commission’s comprehensive investigation into chemical agent deployments and building upon the Attorney General’s landmark lawsuit challenging federal crowd control practices, this legislation represents a critical step in protecting public health and civil liberties from harmful exposure to chemical weapons.

On Monday, Rubio admitted it: we went to war with Iran because Israel planned to, even though most Americans strongly oppose this bombing campaign.

And Illinois law prohibits companies in its pension from boycotting Israel, even at the expense of retirees. All because of Netanyahu’s 2014 spending campaign to ban boycotts.

1. Call your members of Congress and tell them to vote YES on this week’s War Powers Resolution: 833-STOP-WAR.
2. If you live in IL, write your legislators to tell them to stop enabling war crimes and pass HB 2723.

HB2723’s first subcommittee hearing was cancelled as soon as the proponents began to pull away substantially from the opponents. It was then rescheduled in subcommittee again and cancelled again.

Slips are no longer being accepted.

Administrative maneuvers will not silence the majority of Illinoisans who don’t want to see our public pensions sacrificed to feed the Israeli genocide machine. Continue to check back here for next steps.

Unable to win on merits—most Americans see anti-BDS laws as a clear free speech violation—they turned to bad-faith arguments and backroom pressure to bury the bill in subcommittee, hoping to kill it quietly.

But here’s what they don’t understand: procedural victories are temporary. The desire for a just world—where our rights don’t depend on political convenience, where our pensions aren’t weaponized, where our voices matter more than corporate interests—only grows stronger.

From Springfield to Gaza to the border to our own backyards, we’re learning what solidarity means: our shared condition is the foundation. Our interconnected power is the promise.

A just world is inevitable. The only question is when our lawmakers will choose to represent the people.
