โšœ๏ธThroughout this month our Scouts have taken exciting adventures to build skills that will pave the way for a brighter future. On the first Thursday of May, we embarked on a hike at Lake Katherine, enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, and honored Inspirational Women who facilitate our Scouts' growth with a gift. The subsequent Thursday, our Scouts toured the Oak Lawn Police Department, gaining valuable insights into law enforcement operations, with the drones being a particular highlight. Today, Mayor Ryan of the Village of Alsip welcomed us for a discussion on voting, village ordinances, and management. We are grateful for the expertise shared by numerous professionals in support of our Scouts' progress. Please check out pictures of our Adventures below.

We are currently running a Plant Fundraiser of a variety of Marigolds and Sunflowers, please follow the Zeffy link if you're interested and in the area. There is a picture and description of each plant available.

This month has been particularly significant for our scouting group, featuring a variety of exciting experiences. We kicked off the month with a successful Show and Sell event outside Walgreens, selling World's Finest Chocolate. The scouts developed valuable skills in customer interaction, sales techniques, and effective deal closure, while also building resilience through handling rejection. Earth Day was marked by two notable initiatives. Our scouts demonstrated exceptional dedication and enthusiasm by cleaning up 5 bags of garbage from Mt. Greenwood Park, showcasing a commendable effort. We also prepared for our plant sale by planting 200 plants, set to commence in mid-May. Additionally, the scouts crafted miniature gardens in recycled 2-liter bottles, which will be replanted into planters for our Inspiring Women Celebration in May, allowing each scout to personalize a planter and highlight their artistic talents. We commend our scouts for their commitment to the Scout Oath, Law, and Mottos.

Our 2026 scouting journey began with considerable enthusiasm, highlighted by a Cabin Campout, Pinewood Derby, and the Blue and Gold Banquet Dinner within the first 36 days. At the ๐ŸŽ๐ŸPinewood Derby, scouts crafted cars from wood, showcasing their skills in cutting, sanding, painting, and weighing. The competition was fierce, with three divisions determining the top finalists who then vied for the Grand Champion title. Trophies and certificates were awarded to recognize achievement and creativity. The event was notable for the scouts' display of good sportsmanship and commitment to Scout Law values. โšœ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› The Blue and Gold celebration honored Scout America's birthday with a cake-baking competition, awards, and a significant bridging ceremony for Arrow of Light Scouts. This marked an important transition for these scouts as they moved to the troop level, underscoring the troop's commitment to progression and community.
