My Momma’s Era: The Musical is more than a stage production, it is a community arts fundraiser rooted in history, healing, and hope.
This powerful production tells the story of Black families/communities migrating from the Jim Crow South to Chicago’s historic Bronzeville, along with other pivotal Chicago stories. All seen through a mother’s lens and brought to life through live acting, singing, dancing, and narration.
Through this fundraiser, Dream Real Theatre Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to saving communities through the arts, is able to:, Mentor youth and young adults through the performing arts
• Provide arts-based therapy that supports healing and self-expression
• Engage and uplift seniors through cultural programming
• Support re-entry services using arts, storytelling, and creative workforce development
• Preserve Black history and legacy through education
• Raise funds toward opening a Media & Performing Arts Center, a safe, creative hub for our communities
