JCO: Beautification Mission and History

The Jensen Community Organization is an old-established Illinois corporation. It was founded in 1991 by its former president, Florence Stoller. In past years its activities were mainly civic nature: petition circulation; school construction and improvements; and street, sidewalk, and parkway improvements. Now, nearing its second quarter-century of existenc

e and in view of changing times, the JCO has evolved into a mainly hands-on group. Its members are actively creating gardens throughout Albany Park, seeking to develop or embellish empty lots, making efforts to improve storefront appearances and street corners. In addition, the JCO works as activists to make AB a safer and beautiful place to live. We feel there is much that can be done to improve the Albany Park Neighborhood. Florence once said, "Anything you do, do it well." In this regard, we wish to recruit new members and engage the community to help us along the way.
