Update!
You may notice some things have changed on 89th and Commercial Ave. The benches, art and mart stalls have been removed to prepare for the next phase of the sidewalk construction. Don’t worry! The artwork panels are stored safely away, we hope to find a new home for all the art trees, and the mart stalls have a new home where they will get a second life. 💕 Cheers to a Spring filled with vibrant upgrades!

Let’s take a look back at our Alfresco ribbon cutting ceremony:

Fine local youth leadership

During their winter break, the Youth Leadership Council had an insightful meeting with Alderman Peter Chico. They discussed their plans and shared concerns about gun violence, exploring ways policy can play a role in reducing it. The YLC is excited to continue their work on reducing gun violence in the community through restorative practices and social change.

The South Chicago Christmas Tree's lights will turn off after Jan 6 (tomorrow night). Make sure to stop by and take your Three Kings Day photo and pick up your Rosca de Reyes from a local panaderia.

As we wind down the holiday season, we value your input on the impact this Christmas tree had on the community this year. We want to make this an annual tradition, and your comments or DMs about the event will help us to secure funding for another year of holiday joy.

Please leave comments below about the tree / tree lighting ceremony. Why was this special for you/your family/the neighborhood?

Happy New Year Everyone!
