Save the Date: The H&H Excellence Foundation will host our 2026 MLK Day Community Service Project on Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, Illinois.

This year’s service project will focus on assembling Blessing Bags for unhoused community members. Each bag will include essential hygiene items, winter weather gear, snacks, and printed words of encouragement. We will also offer youth-friendly activities to honor Dr. King’s legacy of service, learning, and community care.

Tomorrow, Dr. Briggs will be hosting a FREE Scholarship & Essay Writing Workshop to help students and families navigate the financial side of higher education.

Whether your student is college or trade school bound, this workshop will provide the tools and resources needed to approach scholarships with confidence and ease.

Ever wonder if there some vital steps to be taken before your VERY last year of school. Time flies, am I right?

First off, make sure you have a plan for AP Classes and SAT Prep. Getting tutoring at your school or locally can make a huge difference for the outcome of these important, yet often intimidating exams. Take this from someone who is a junior in college and ended up getting a 4 on the AP Psych exam because of tutoring.

Wondering where to get that help? Come no further than H&H Higher Education Services! We offer all sorts of coaching, but the one thing that we pride ourselves is being able to see our students succeed with flying colors!

The school season is literally right around the corner! 🎒📚 Sure, some of you may not be officially back until September, but it's never too early to start preparing!! 💡✨

If you're transferring schools, just moved, or heading out of state to kick off your college journey, I’m sure this thought has crossed your mind:
“I don’t know anyone!!!” 😬

Yes, that can be scary—but think of it this way: you’re getting a completely clean slate. 🧼 You now have the power to shape your own social life, which is a HUGE step toward adulthood. 🧠💪 So… how do you actually do that?

That’s where H&H comes in—we’re here to help guide you even in your most uncertain moments. 💚✨ Here are just a few tips and tricks to help you start building friendships, both new and old:

1️⃣ Be outgoing—even if you’re naturally an introvert.
Attend those “cringe” orientation events everyone talks about… they actually work! 🥳 These moments are the foundation of future friendships.
Take it from me—your friendly social media manager—who went to my university’s Derby Day celebration during Welcome Week. I met my best friend and my future sophomore-year roommate that very day! 💫👯‍♀️

2️⃣ Be open to new opportunities and interests.
Let’s be real—college can feel overwhelming, whether it’s a big school or a small one. 😵‍💫 So how do you find your people?

Start by reflecting on your past experiences:
👉 What clubs did you enjoy in high school?
👉 What environments pushed you to grow?
👉 Any sports or hobbies you always wanted to try?

These are great launching points to join spaces that bring you joy, confidence, and connection. 🫶💭

As we have grown over the last few months we cannot have made all of the progress we have without our wonderful H&H Community Supporters!

That's right! We have been able to reach new horizons because of you all. Today though, we wanted to highlight a VERY special supporter that has been here since the beginning.

Meet Antwan Taylor who is a Chicago-born media entrepreneur and author who proudly claims Markham, IL as home. A member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. he graduated from Western Illinois University in 2010, and has since built a dynamic creative portfolio spanning visual storytelling, podcasting, and publishing. In 2011, he launched his full-service photography and videography company, and he also hosts the Mogul Motivation podcast with over 500 episodes that inspires audiences through candid conversations and powerful allegories

An early storyteller, he spent his childhood filling notebooks with imaginative tales sparked by the films he watched on repeat. That passion matured into a writing career, producing two published books—one a bestseller—and forthcoming novel, SoCHiology: The Chi-Fi Dept., his most ambitious project yet. Fusing science fiction, Black history, and cultural mythology, SoCHiology delivers an epic narrative that redefines the speculative genre with bold world-building and deeply rooted themes.
