Thank you for following along with us for our Day in the Life series this summer! We hope you have loved watching our youth's videos as much as they enjoyed making them. 📹

The Day in the Life video project culminated in an award ceremony where each youth received a trophy and a framed photo of themselves with their mentor. Professional Mentors David and Nate recognized the incredible effort that each child put into creating their video, not just the end result. Planning their outing, writing a story board, filming, recording voiceover, editing - all of those steps led youth to a final video that they are proud of.

Through the Day in the Life project, David and Nate taught our youth what it looks like to be consistent. To know that every project can be broken down into smaller, more manageable steps. To keep going, even when things are hard. To be creative, persevere, explore, and imagine new possibilities.

Creativity. Perseverance. Exploration. Imagination. That is what it takes for our youth to become the dreamers of tomorrow. ✨

Welcome back to the fifth and final video in our Day in the Life series - a glimpse into Jada's* world.

Jada, and every child in our program, had an opportunity to learn about audio visual storytelling through our Day in the Life project. Professional Mentors David and Nate helped youth break down the many factors that go into making a video: footage, photos, voiceover, music, and more. They helped youth to imagine a career in videography or filmmaking.

Jada's creative editing in her video exemplifies an important goal of the Day in the Life project: introducing youth to new possibilities. When Jada expressed that she wanted to include photos and video clips in her project, David and Nate taught her how to add exciting transitions between images that she could create herself. They empowered her to be the author and director of her own story.

Jada might grow up to become a filmmaker. She might not. But the most important thing is that we make sure she knows that she can be whatever she dreams of, and we help her build the skills to get there.
