About Us
College Mentoring Experience (CME), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides mentoring and academic programs for middle school, high school and college students in the inner-city of Chicago. Our program identifies youth who are at risk of being failed by their current situation. CME’s goal is to foster a committed alliance with students that will promote positive and healthy

relationships, strong interpersonal skills and reassert a sense of hope for their future. By building personal relationships, students develop a sense of individual responsibility which provides them with self-confidence and a much stronger drive to follow a positive path to adulthood. We provide life altering one-on-one mentoring to each student by having a positive role model in their life. We help students transition into adulthood by providing strong adult guidance, care, environmental change and pride building. CME has partnerships with local schools offering tutoring to students who face academic challenges. We emphasize reading, writing and math to help students focus on fundamental learning skills. We will host ACT Prep classes/workshops to prepare students for exams and help them deal with the anxiety that comes from taking standardized tests. CME hosts multiple trips/tours to universities and colleges to encourage youth to explore higher education options and understand the benefits of college. Resources will be made available for scholarships, grants and financial workshops. Students will have the opportunity to partake in CME’s annual college fair. Mentors will receive continuous training throughout the year. CME will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to students, aspiring mentors and the community-at-large.
