Today in Armenia is Holy Translator's Day. On the second Saturday in October, Armenians officially observe it to honor a group of literary figures who translated the Bible into Armenian. Armenia's conversion to Christianity required translating the Holy Bible and creating Armenian masses. But first, they needed a new alphabet that met the needs of the time.

The holiday includes a feast to commemorate the people who created the Armenian alphabet and founded Armenian literature, written language, and schools.
