🌟 What does “Together, We Thrive” mean to you?

For Life Changing Community Outreach, it looks like confidence, connection, and change across Austin and the greater West Side of Chicago. In the past year, 95% of Thrive Program participants graduated high school on time, 80% enrolled in college or vocational training, and 70% reported improved financial decision-making skills.

Today highlights the urgent need for shelter, food, and support services for people experiencing homelessness. Life Changing Community Outreach is committed to uplifting low-income families and individuals in the Austin community and Chicago’s West Side through compassionate outreach and resources.

🌟 45 years in Austin shaped the heart behind LCCO.

Founder Yvette McKinnie launched Life Changing Community Outreach in 2013 with a clear calling: “Provide A Quality Of Life” for the Austin community on Chicago’s west side. From 27 years with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department to mentoring disconnected youth and serving in ministry, her experience has guided outreach rooted in faith, mentorship, and community care.

In 2014, that vision became “Teens, Let’s talk,” starting in her home with 10 young people. Today, that same commitment continues to uplift and empower the community.

🌟 Calling all seniors, technology should open doors, not create barriers.

LCCO’s Empowerment Program is helping seniors build digital skills through computer training, internet navigation, mobile app use, and cyber safety support. These programs also create space for social connection, healthy living, and staying active through support groups, wellness activities, book clubs, and intergenerational opportunities.

All are welcome to be a part of a community where seniors can build confidence, stay connected, and thrive.

🌟 Looking for support, programs, or practical resources this season?

Life Changing Community Outreach connects families in Austin and Chicago with help for food, shelter, and clothing, plus year-round programs for youth, seniors, and young adults ages 16-24. From after-school clubs and mentoring to workforce development, GED prep, computer training, and senior support, these services are built around real community needs.
