Taking a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come!!!💕
When we held our first dinner, we knew how much WE needed this. We realized we were always putting ourselves last as new moms, and hadn’t taken a real “night off” for ourselves in years (and Covid didn’t help with that, now did it?! 🫠)
So, we held our first dinner party. And what we truly didn’t know then - but have since learned very deeply - is how much EVERY mom needs this! Early motherhood is SO HARD, and it’s even harder to help yourself when you are in the thick of it. Now that our kids are >5, we can help a little more. So we are going to keep building this out for all of us 💗💗
Moms in our generation are struggling with some combination (or ALL) of the following, and we are all doing it alone at the same time. (So why not do it together??)
Things like:
*living far from family/support
*working and raising a family
*having a hard time getting/staying pregnant
*having kids at different times than your friend group and feeling alone
*doing all of these things during covid
*and so much more
But, community helps. A LOT. Every time I sit down at one of our dinners, we inevitably end up talking about some sort of challenge we all share. It’s like therapy!!!
So as Friend of a Mom continues to grow, we have so many goals:
*make more spaces for everyone to meet up (more dinners, brunches, stroller walks, wellness events, playground meetups, and more)
*build more expert guides and resources to help make moms’ lives easier. If you haven’t, check our website - there are a TON of guides on there!!
*expand our community digitally through our website and app. Moms are busy, and just because you WANT to come to something, it doesn’t always mean that you can!! We want to keep everyone connected beyond the events - and to help facilitate more meetups and connection among everyone.
Moms - if you’re here, you’ve taken the first step for YOURSELF whether you’ve been to an event yet or not. Thank you so much for being here!!! 💗💗💗💗 Erin & Lucie
