Walk It Out For Andrew (WIOFA) is a 501(c)(3) organization benefiting the Teen Hematology and Oncology Support Groups at Advocate Children’s Hospital. The Support Groups organize activities for patients such as attending Chicago Blackhawks and Sox games, downtown dinners and other fun outings. These outings are essential in helping the teens regain a sense of normalcy and provide a fun, social and

supportive escape from the harshness of treatment. As the sole sponsor of the group, WIOFA covers all costs associated with these trips.

on we’re thinking about the kids spending this holiday season in hospital rooms instead of classrooms. in treatment chairs instead of family gatherings. facing challenges no child should ever have to face. 💛 our mission has always been to give kids and families facing cancer and blood disorders a chance to feel joy, connection, and a sense of normalcy when they need it most.

something new is nothing new. we’ve tried all sorts of ways to fundraise for the kids through the years. some we came back to, some we changed, but what always remained was the mission. jefferson tap will be the place to be for a night out to celebrate all hallows’ evening and continue our annual tradition of gathering as friends, family, and community to support the kids who need us. come mix it up with us and get your tickets at wiofa.org (link in bio)

where else have we been this year? wiofa’s teen support group took trips to color me mine and bowling to add to the opportunities for the kids to get together for some fun.

the andrew smialek family fund at advocate children’s hospital supports kids and teens who are facing some of the toughest battles far too early in life. with your help, wiofa funds programs and outings that give pediatric patients and their families the chance to step away from the hospital, connect with others who understand, and simply enjoy being together.

our teen support group is built on the foundation of creating fun experiences for the patients all around chicagoland, and we’re bringing that same spirit to our annual event — new places all around our world class city, new experiences, a new wiofa.

and now for something different… on saturday november 1, we bring our annual event to jefferson tap in west loop for all hallows’ evening! a private second floor space with dinner and a bar package will be all ours to come together for a night of spooktacular fun and fundraising in the heart of one of chicago’s most popular neighborhoods.

where’s wiofa? earlier this month, we were with the teens in our hematology and oncology support group getting taken out to the ballgame with the Chicago Dogs! it’s always a rewarding experience when we’re able to join an outing and see our mission in action.

stay tuned for more information about our annual fundraiser on november 1 where you can join us and ensure fun, all expenses paid opportunities for the kids can continue as long as they need us.

the family 5K is no longer a part of our future, but it remains the foundation and birthplace of our mission. june and summer days like today were made for the walk for 15 years, and although we won’t see you this month, that same mission continues in new ways beyond a celebration of community and hope at west lawn park.
