Chicago Climate Week kicks off one month from today, and our July Community Meeting, Youth Voices: Busting Climate Myths in the Digital Age (Monday, July 20 at 6:30 PM, Nichols Library), is part of the lineup. We're excited to welcome the amazing summer interns from Accelerate Climate Solutions and hear from the young people who will be most affected by climate change. Great news on renewable energy:

In May, for the first time, solar supplied more of the nation’s electricity than coal!

Solar also became the third-largest source of electricity in the U.S. in May, behind natural gas and nuclear.

Renewables will become the largest global energy source, used for almost 45% of electricity generation by 2030, according to the International Energy Agency.

A major highlight of our Juneteenth celebration is the incredible lineup of local groups joining us at Rotary Hill. This year, we are hosting more than 25 vendor and partner resource tables dedicated to supporting, uplifting, and connecting with our neighbors!

When you walk through the festival, you'll be able to grab great items and connect with family and youth services, health and wellness advocates, public library resources, local faith communities, environmental groups, and various elected officials dedicated to serving our area.

Our June NEST meeting “Your Home, Optimized” will be a roadmap to lower bills. Zoe Huspen of the Citizen’s Utility Board will discuss how energy efficiency optimization can lead to lower bills for homeowners. She will be joined by Ben Mjolsness (Naperville Sustainability Manager) and Joe Hus (NEST Energy Chair), who will discuss ways the city and NEST can help.

Did you know Naperville’s homes produce more than double the electricity emissions of the DuPage County average? We can do better!

If you want to find out what you can do to reduce your energy consumption, join us for the May Community Meeting:

We’ll be joined by green builder Craig Schneider for a practical look at how home energy audits help homeowners cut emissions, save money, and make informed decisions about future upgrades.

We’ll provide a brief update on Naperville’s energy contract and preview some upcoming NEST summer activities.
