The Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan returns to TAB on October 1 at 7 PM. This discussion is about more than infrastructure. It touches on safety, accessibility, mobility, and quality of life for residents of all ages and abilities. Public comments are welcome online and in person.

A majority of the Council approved this vision, which highlights five interconnected and important priorities for our city’s energy future: reliability, sustainability, affordability, flexibility, and local control.

Naperville is making major decisions right now through the upcoming budget workshops, which start this Monday, September 21st. These are choices that will shape our energy use, infrastructure, and long term resilience. But without a Climate Action Plan, these decisions happen without a roadmap. A CAP would give us clear goals and strategies, and a way to measure progress so that our budget aligns with our long term vision. As the city works through this year’s budget, NEST reiterates our call to budget for a Climate Action Plan that guides responsible and sustainable planning for the future. Five years ago today, CEJA became law, and it continues to shape a cleaner, more equitable future for Illinois. We’ve expanded clean energy, invested in renewable development, and launched Clean Jobs Workforce Hubs that are training people across the state for careers in the clean energy economy. CEJA also created a statewide EV rebate and funded a growing charging network as Illinois works toward one million electric vehicles on the road by 2030. Five years in, CEJA is delivering cleaner air, new jobs, and a more equitable energy future for Illinois.

CEJA was signed into law five years ago today! Since then, solar energy has skyrocketed, 3,220+ Illinoisans completed CEJA’s pre-apprenticeship programs, 14 workforce training hubs opened, and $120+ million has been invested in communities impacted by coal closures.

Start collecting your styrofoam now; we look forward to seeing you on October 3rd!

We’re a month away from this year’s final Styrofoam recycling event, hosted by the City in partnership with Dart Container, Naperville Noon Lions and the Naperville Environment and Sustainability Task Force. Drop off your Styrofoam from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Route 59 Metra Station north parking lot. Foam cups, to-go containers, egg cartons, rinsed meat trays, ice chests, and protective packaging foam are accepted, but packing peanuts are NOT. For details, visit naperville.il.us/WasteRecycling.
